    that's 6 points = 3 results needed 2 wins and a draw against 3 defeats ( not counting GD )

It is now that we do not need to get complacent .. we momentarily have the cushion of 3 defeats! we lose 3, Rotherham win 3 and we are just 1 point behind .... should we draw 1 and they lose 1 they then have to win and draw whilst we lose 2 ...

how many of you believe we will lose 4 of our next 5 games???? ....

the next 5 are all tricky ones ... with the fifth Hull before Rotherham fixture ...the day we survive to fight another year ?

got no answers to that one ..

    City lost 2
    Rotherham won 2
    Charlton won 1 drew 1
    Bolton drew 1 lost 1
    MKDONS Won 1 drew 1
    Fulham drew 1 lost 1
    Huddersfield lost 1 won 1
it is now getting very tight...... our cushion has all but gone ...

UNFORTUNATELY LOOKS TO BE GOING THAT WAY .. RED for danger!

Sat 3 points required definite should ROTHERHAM WIN OR DRAW with DERBY their confidence will be so high that by the time they play us it will be to late and our battle will be with MKD ...

I mentioned a few weeks ago how nice and reasonably secure we were having an 8 point margin between us and the relegation zone. That has been blown away by 2 defeats combined with better performances from the teams we were trying to separate ourselves from have now left us teetering on the edge.

All the Dame Nellie critics can't help but notice an improved Rotherham under his guidance, much the same as the honeymoon period with most new managers, and unless they revert to their old ways, much like us, I can see them staying up. When it comes to club finances I would think we are in a better position then them, based on attendances and ownership, so why do we constantly have to compete with clubs of this kind every time we reach the Championship?

To me Warnock, love him or hate him, should have at least been a target for Lansdown but something in me says that SL is not equipped to deal with someone who has a footballing brain with the intelligence and desire to expect ownership support to get the job done. Surely it is becoming more obvious by the day that our track record in attracting top class managers is virtually non-existent and I for one was hoping for at least an upgrade to business class but was told to accept cabin expectations. I have a great deal of respect and empathy for Lee Johnson but I believe he is yet another sacrificial lamb being led to the slaughter by his new boss, much the same as his predecessors.

Using all the excuses known to mankind will never substitute for reasonable football business practices and knowledge of where you want to be and how you are going to get there with your preferred driver of choice. The dreams of Premiership football (Lansdown's words not mine) are fast disappearing from the radar because what will happen when the bottom team gets 100 million pounds for failure and relegation, and clubs like ours are struggling to spend 6-8 million on a player in the current environment based on the FFP restrictions?

My horrible thought is that Warnock will save Rotherham and we will be relegated yet again mainly due to our lack of street smarts in a wicked world.

Absolutely spot on, nail on the head, 100% correct.
We should have had a better than even chance of landing NW given he's based in the South West, and yet we opt for a young (and hungry I'll grant you) Manager but who has no Championship experience and who isn't actually the manager but Head Coach.

The decision to appoint LJ could still come back and bite Lansdown in the ass very quickly.

And then what wonderful plan will he have instead I wonder should we fall through the trapdoor ?

Exactly I don't understand the love in for Warnock. He's done nothing for years. In fact I believe that in the last 5 years Lee Johnson has had more success has manager than he has. If we want to appoint a manager purely based on his past glories then lets dig up Brian Clough and be done with it!!

    "There" not "Their"

I do wonder what would be the outburst if say LJ went to someone like Brentford and took them to at least the play off place.
You can hear it already "****ing hell Lansdown why the **** didn't you get LJ when you had the chance? You're not fit to sanction all that money you put into the club. Ps can we reduce our income by lowering the ST fees please? "

I'm certainly not having a love in for Dame Nellie but rather questioning why we apparently didn't even interview others with more experience. Just look where the single pole approach took us with Steve Cotterill. If you want to prove that you are looking at top class managers to get where our owner has stated on so many occasions then you have to talk to them.

The owner has previously stated he wants to see us in the Premiership within 5 years.

Assuming he was being serious when he said it, then you go out and get a proven Manager who can achieve that feat having done it previously. It wouldn't be cheap, but buying experience never is.

I would be amazed if the person to ever come close to getting us into the top tier of English football is LJ, or if he's still here then. If so he will be one of our longest serving Manager/Head Coach/Whatever.

If LJ takes us down I dread to think what the reaction might be.

I know, used as a ref point, similar to using Tinman or Dicks although SC brought us the most success in one go he also brought us the most heart ache in one go ... check back my posts I never fully rated SC ..DIDNT THINK HE WOULD ACHIEVE BUT SUPPORTED HIM...have reasons for others but not relevant it is to do with post Christmas ....

the point of this thread is the 2 game rule it needs 3 games to overcome 6 pts (gd aside), playing at this mo is Blackburn and Leeds in the cauldron 2 games ago but there is now a 5 point gap between 18th and 19th and 2 teams just above with 6 and 7 point advantages and a game in hand, so after today we will see who for the next 9 games will be in the fire, who in the cauldron and who the steam drifting into fresh springtime air will be ...
the sands of time are fast running out for 3 of 6 teams ... ... ...
Bolton need 11 pts basically 4 wins with MKD or CITY /FULHAM losing 4 .... Bolton in the fire
Charlton need 8pts basically 3 wins above losing 3 ...Charlton in the fire
Rotherham need a win and MKD AND CITY LOSE ONE.... all in the cauldron

COYR LAST SEASON this was a prevalent comment loads of threads and posters ... SO why FOR THIS SEASON is it a thing I have only seen maybe once or twice outside the the 2 or 3 times I've used it .. ? negativity?

The safety point could be as high as 51 points, 2 or 3 teams likely, going by fixtures to be played, could be on 50 pts Rotherham could be last one down on 49 points ..
CITY v BOLTON, IRRESPECTIVE of the changes at Bolton need to win by 2 or 3 goals ... ... re establish the 2 game rule !
BRENTFORD and BLACKBURN ( not included in working out 51pts) are the only other fixture this weekend we would like as a draw ....
