First game of the season is not always a pointer to the year. That said I hope we will be able to put effective replacements into place in respect of the players who have or are departing. Otherwise that's a further problem to surmount.
I can't see Wenger making any more significant signings, he thinks there is 'enough quality in the squad' already. The money for Cesc and Nasri will just go into the coffers along with the last lot from Adey and Kolo. The fans can go to hell as far as Wenger is concerned, he has his bonuses to think of.
Well if Arsene thinks there is enough quality and that he doesn't need to bring in anymore talent then this may well undo his own position. He may be stubborn or mad enough to do this but I think it is more likely that we end up with a relative unknown from France. If we go for anyone of merit and who is known, I doubt if the club ( read Gazidis ) would put in a decent offer. As I said before, this really is a watershed year for Arsene and Arsenal. It would be foolish to take unnecessary risks.
