ffs man, that`s a bloke who`s been in the business best part of 30 years. What have we done to the poor bugger.
That's a man who's put his all into just 7 games! Make him sign a one year extension and give him a chance to rebuild this team.

"It was emotions," he said. "In 25 years we have done everything together. "He started crying and I did the same. He said 'let it go' so I said 'why not?'"
He has been around a long time and prior to us could have been seen as a past it international manager. What he has done here is proved that he has not lost the ability to instill belief into a struggling team. ES has to keep him on even in an advisory capacity. This time last season GP told us he had found a miracle but could not really say how, whereas DA has done it through sheer hard work and determination not to lose.
He fluked it as we gelled, but couldn't replicate that with different players. Dick has gelled us as a team, round pegs and holes, as many have said. We need some more top quality round pegs to push on. I hope Dick stays to help oversee the positive transition to upper-mid we've been hoping and crying out for.
I of course want him to have another crack next season. But a small part of me hopes he leaves now so that I can reminisce over a manager who left the club with his head held high, did his job, bosh, and away with the respect of every Sunderland fan under his arm!
Would I have him here next season ? Well it all depends on how poorly his wife is I suppose, and I can't remember if it was the press who highlighted this issue or if came from DA himself. Neverltheless, his dear wife's health and happiness is obviously closer to his heart. While we await this conundrum, and let's assume he is to turn his back on management for the last time, what about right-hand man Bert van Lingen ? I wonder if he may have a future role with us !
Well that makes more sense, and if that is the case, it won't take much persuasion for her to change her stance...once she falls in love with the Club and fans...will it ?
You know what it is, how great was the line.. 'You tell people what their role is and what they are expected to do and then it becomes easier'. That ****ing simple, what a brilliant line from a top gaffer who knows his ****. Football made easy, and an insight into the Dutch mentality. Tell people what they need to do, and have them do it. Simplistic genius from the man. And it ****ing worked an arl!
Totally agree mate, simple but effective.. With GP I felt he was always dribbling **** to the press about how he wants to play. DA came in and did it his way, the right way!
Gus threw in the towel and said 'I think we need a miracle' then lapped it up as if that ****ing line was his deliberate motivation. Dick told the lads what they needed to do and got them to do it. Chalk & Cheese mate. We need to do whatever to keep hold of Richard (No way was I ending that with Dick).
