With the recent departure of Andy Carroll being the main topic of conversation at the moment its obviously going to be hard to avoid, but at some point we need to start planning for life without him, that being said, would you change the fully fit starting lineup to accomodate this? How would you do it? Who would start and why?

Personally I think we need to scrap the whole 4-5-1 idea that everyone has been talking about, it would have worked with Carroll as the lone striker but we dont currently have one striker good enough on his own to lead the line, so I'm thinking 4-4-2 is back on the agenda.

    Harper

    Simpson Williamson Coloccini Enrique

    Barton Tiote Nolan Ben Arfa

    Ranger Ameobi

Looks a little bleak without Carroll doesnt it, but I believe that this team is probably the strongest non Carroll lineup we could put out, although I dont rate Ameobi you would have to say overall that hes probably the best of a bad bunch, Ranger must get more game time now in my opinion, its time for him to step up and give his all and hopefully go some of the way to replace the big hole that the greased haired ****er has left us.

Ranger and Shola are both big guys so hopefully the crosses from Arfa and Barton will help us keep up the scoring.

The rest of the team explains itself really.

Doesn't look too bad really. The team is strong apart from a weak striker force, but a lot of teams have that issue these days. Tottenham, for example, are struggling with theirs.

Ameobi as the lone striker? You two are very bold, he wont have any impact as the lone striker in my opinion and we wont score any goals.

jonas hasnt been good enough recently and as soon as ben afra is back i can see him benchwarming. i put shola on top on his own and id have nolan supporting him and put ireland in the 'free role' thats the role he played in his best season for city.

    I'd like us to try:

    Harper

    Simpson Williamson Colo Enrique

    Tiote
    Nolan Ireland Barton
    Arfa

    Ranger

*Arfa is quite versatile so can be considered more of a midfielder/striker and provide what we lack in terms of attack force. Give him the ball and he'll run!

Ranger needs to be given a chance, this is your time to shine boy!

Yeah, I looked and realised I'd missed out Ireland in the middle.

Maybe Ireland and Arfa would link up well in front of Nolan and Barton?
