Based on performance against hull, I think engvall and Moore need to start and I think we need to try a 3-5-2 against Barnsley. .....................fielding....................... ........Moore...Flint...magnussen...... matthews.O'Neil..smith.golbourne ........................Tomlin..................... ............engvall..........abraham........
More or less the side I suggested after the Hull game (only I accidentally made it 3-4-4). I have been urging for a 3 man defence with our best defenders all playing. Now we have Engval as well I can't see any other formation, so apologies to Reid and Pack but this is our A-Team
So after you criticise the changes on Tuesday probably the only two players who could be classed as reserves you would keep in the side?
Just went on the Barnsley board to check out their thoughts - what a library of **** - there are loads of posts but more akin to a young teen's chat room and nothing Barnsley - or even football related!
Can't disagree to much with personnel, but, as yet we don't seem to understand 3-5-2. Haven't seen Engvall to comment but hope whoever plays or in what system we must give Abraham support. Against Cardiff the poor sod was hung out to dry. ps - Fielding's due one.
From Red Robins team I would swap Goulbourne for Bryan, and Matthews for O Dowda or Patterson, but otherwise a good side on paper.
I think ROD's team is going to be pretty close to what he picks For me though I would play Bryan at left back and play Bobby Reid
I quite like all the suggested teams tbh - which just shows what a good selection of players we have. Not sure how to call the game though - despite our quality on paper we haven't played really well other than for 20 minute spells since Fulham away and our recent wins, whilst welcome, have been somewhat scrappy. We will have to be very alert for the full 90 minutes - which sounds obvious, but Barnsley are the masters at scoring late goals. This game will be seen as a bit of a grudge match too and they will be looking to get one over their former manager. A draw would be good I recon - unless we finally click, in which case we would smash them.
or they smash us, unless of course we smash each other, in which case = a draw. How about a no-smash draw ? Or in other words, who the hell knows
What I was (badly) trying to say was that we are potentially a very very good team. We have only seen glimpses of our potential so far, but if we played to our full potential I really don't think even Newcastle could stop us. Man for man we are better than Barnsley - it depends how the pieces fit together on the pitch and on the day that counts.
agreed, although i think if we played to our max we would give Newcastle a good game rather than a pounding.. They are in their own league at the minute With you on the rest of it though. Its the strongest i have seen us since 2008, and much rests on the shoulders of Tomlin. Lets hope he has the shoulders to carry such responsibility, and that we don't get stuffed by injuries
Let's hope LJ gives the two up front ago today. This could be the iceing on the cake for us. The one up front is so demanding,a young kid carrying our hopes on his young shoulders is so unfair on him. He needs help and we have the player in Engvall that can do it.
Its not an easy league. If you want that then wait until we are back in League one Bruce has called it Premier League II
