Right as the week progress its looking unlikely there will be any new signings in time for Saturday. Danny Drinkwater and Matty James are both ruled out through injury. Matt Upson is out long term but both Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy are fit and available. So here is what I would play

    Schmeichel

    De Laet
    Moore
    Morgan
    Konchesky

    Mahrez
    Hammond
    King
    Schlupp

    Nugent

    Ulloa

Subs- Hamer, Wasilewski, Albrighton, Knockaert, Taylor-Fletcher, Wood, Vardy

I think most people will go with that team barring Schlupp. The reason I have gone with Schlupp is my worry about Konchesky, Schlupp will cover Konchesky and his pace could be a vital asset as our best chance of scoring are hitting them on the counter attack with pace and getting crosses into Ulloa

Vardy's pace off the bench could be a massive weapon for us IF were still in the game come 70th minute mark

Yep, i agree but with Schlupp out and Knocky in like you said. Vardy for Nuge does play on the mind though...

We need Nugent to support King and Hammond. Vardy will be much more effective as an impact sub

If we go and attack Chelsea we will get smashed. Very naive to go 442 with 2 attacking winger and your best 2 centre mids missing. Schlupp will offer defensive cover and attacking threat. Not the type of game for Knockaert

I always think that people underestimate Knockaerts defensive ability

Knockaert is a liability at times defensively. He gets too caught up attacking and will stupidly give the ball away.

Don't get me wrong he always puts a shift in and always tracks back but I can't see him being happy playing to track the full back and hold his position while Schlupp would. Schlupp pace also makes Chelsea think about throwing too many men forward

You might as well play 11 of these. The score won't be much different

Pienaar and Baines did ... somebody told them he was probably **** ... he was far worse! <laugh> ... in fairness he had been in a plaster cast earlier that week ... unfortunately he gets drawn to the ball, loses his man and can't tackle... apart from that he's fine <laugh>

Cheers Grif ... not sure I agree ... why do you think Chelsea will have trouble with such a rigid defence? <laugh> ... mind you at least that looks like fairly new training apparatus ... just imagine if we'd had to buy in a load of virtually redundant stuff from the North West of England ...

Nuge will need to step up markedly from his Everton performance... he can't afford to be virtually anonymous again ... if Vardy was fully fit then Nige might just consider playing him in this one in place of Nuge ... he would certainly give Lurch and Fester an uncomfortable afternoon with his pace and constant harassment ...

... as things stand I think you may well be close to the actual line-up.

Do you think you'll get something from us?

I'm hoping we can win these sort of games this time around as it probably cost us the title last season. I don't think it will be as easy as most are making out though and i'm hoping we can get a goal in the first half. If we don't then we'll get more and more wary as the time runs out and it might mean you get something but if we score first half i fancy us to get 2 or 3.

Good luck with your season and enjoy the day out to anybody that is going!

It will prob be a repeat of Burnley, but our goal will probably be a consolation.

We're struggling for midfielders, and thats not what you need against probably the best midfield in the league!

Think the best we can hope for is that Courtois has a stinker! Also lets hope Morgan can keep Costa quiet like he did Lukaku last week.

Nah people are harsh on Knockaert - he is a feisty little pitbull terrier!! Follows the ball rather than positionally but hey ho its still effective!

Guys, this is the one time you will have all rangers fans supporting you...not sure it'll help though

Play 1 up front, either Vardy or Ulloa (or whatever the F his name is) and put 5 across the middle.

Make no mistake, i Hate the Scum with a passion, but, you are facing a VERY GOOD Chelscum side with a point to prove.

Hope you get a point out of the game and if not at least dish it out to them

good luck ( from 99.99999% of Rangers fans) <ok>.Not sure about Grif..

Think this is a very tough fixture for us Gaz tbf ... at the moment we have lost both our first choice centre-midfield stawarts from last season, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James - not ideal when you look at the players at your disposal ... and I think it would still be an incredibly tough fixture even if we had everyone available ...

Potentially, we have some particular individuals that might just cause you a few headaches - Ulloa's strength, Vardy's pace (if fit) and Mahrez's trickery ... but I suspect most of us would feel a point to be a real achievement ... mind you, playing you in your first competitive home fixture, with all the expectation there is on you, might not be the worst time to play you this season ...

... wouldn't say people are harsh ed - just realistic - defending is not his game ... think perhaps you may, by contrast, be somewhat immune to his flaws on the defensive front as he seems to be a particular favourite ... 'pitbull' he aint ... more like a Jack Russell with a concentration lapse disorder when it comes to defending <laugh>

Can see GTF making an appearance - sure he is probably the combined size of Chelsea's midfield but he has a very good footballing brain and can hold up the ball well.

Would wish you guys good luck, but I don't because I want my team to win <laugh>
Seriously though, hope its a good game.
This is exactly the kind of game we would drop points in last season, against a newly promoted side, the week after hammering Arsenal 6-0.
People often underestimate the new boys, hoping we dont do the same.

    <cheers>
