I would probably go with Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding Schneiderlin Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Guly SUBS: Bialkowski, Martin, Fox, De Ridder, Holmes
Guly, not great away from home, yes. However, his calmness and quality might just be what we need in what will probably be a heated game. Can not see him getting dropped for De Ridder, who as much as I want him to be great (I'm not a De Ridder hater like some seem to have become quite quickly) he still seems to do best from the bench. Didn't think Guly did that bad at Doncaster, but that was only what I saw from saintsplayer.
I dont think three central midfielders in the same team works, all three are good players so they should just be rotated in my mind although I guess as its a derby maybe Hammond should play.
Away from home the three central midfielders just doesn't work. You could see that at the Bristol City game. It's not too bad with Chappers out a bit wider as he is far more attacking than Morgan.
----------------------Davis------------------------- ----Richardson----Fonte-----Hooiveld----------Fox---- ----Chaplow-----Schneiderlin---Hammond----Lallana--- -----------------------Guly--------------------------- ---------------------Lambert-------------------------
What??Guly was immense against Blackpool,he was our best player.Yes,he will probably go missing because of his dreadful tackling ability but then again he could unlock a door with a bit of skill and flair and could ultimately win us the game. I think it will be a great game.
My team for Sunday would be: ---------------------Peter Shilton----------------------------- -----Mick Mills, John McGrath, Killer, Mark Dennis------ ---------------------Terry Hurlock---------------------------- Terry Paine, Brian O'Neil, Jimmy Case, Steve Williams -------------------Peter Osgood------------------------------ That should frighten the living daylights out of them.
why have you put chaplow on the left, lallana plays there. Another point is that de ridder is good but is just not the finish article yet.
not being funny but why is everybody playing chaplow? just cos he is training doesnt mean he is fit to play
Chaplow has just tweeted saying today was his first day back in training, and really just saying it'll be touch and go up to kick off...
IMO this is the worst possible midfield for an away derby, we really need a player with bite in the midfield (IE Hammond, Chaplow or Guly) who can give and take hard tackles. Whilst I love the sound of a Cork/Schneiderlin central pairing, they'll just get bullied off the park in a derby. Providing everyone is fit, I'd go for the fairly standard Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding Chaplow Hammond Cork Lallana Guly Lambert Subs: Bart, Martin, Fox, Schneiderlin, De Ridder.
