Even when going forward, he can get frustrating at times, he needs to realize his duty is not to dictate play and just pass the bloody ball to his midfield counterparts if he's out of options rather hugging onto it and loosing possession.

Even though many would disagree with me, i honestly think Enrique has done a much better job overall than Jonhnson has this season. Though he's got the same problem of trying overdo things, his strength and pace bails him out most of the time.

I 100% agree and I think if Johnson got dropped for a couple of games like Enrique did it would give him a wake up call.

maybe we switch them and then they both become better defenders on the opposite sides! <yikes>

It's ok with me that you think it, yes. I'm not bothered with people who don't understand the game.

I don't agree however. The bandwagon that Johnson isn't good defensively was slowed down in the past couple of seasons when Johnson has been one of England's and Liverpool's best players. One game won't do much to change that and I doubt the manager will drop a great right back for a makeshift novice.

We'll soon find out though. <ok>

Johnson's had a brilliant season and, apart from the last few matches, has been solid defensively too.

Our system relies on the fullbacks pushing up high to provide the width and the deep midfielders (lucas/Allen/sometimes Gerrard) are expected to fill in the gaps. They normally do great at getting back anyway, but you can't blame them for not always being there.

Curious though that Johnson's weaker performances this season have come since Jamie returned...Skrtel did a great job of covering for Glen defensively, Jamie hasn't got the pace to do that. I think that might be a part of his dip.

Still a top defender and very under rated, especially at defending.

Think it's more of our defensive structure when dealing with crosses/set pieces rather than individual errors. I am curious to how much time goes in to set pieces on the training pitch, it's becoming a great hindrance to us, not even Carragher has really changed it, I understand we're not a tall, strong team but defending set pieces is the basics.

IMO - should keep the team the same apart from bringing in Pepe Reina in place of the indecisive Brad Jones.

    Spurs are a very decent side who aren't goal-shy. Conceeding 2 isn't a disaster...

We conceded two poor goals though because we haven't got a clue how to defend set pieces. They never threatened too much from open play. Luckily, Sotton don't play hoof ball or we'd be screwed.
