An interesting quote from Paul Ince as Blackpool announced Fuller's signing.... "Speaking to Chris Powell, they wanted to sign him but they are waiting for a takeover to take place so he was disappointed to lose him, but it's a chance for him to come and show what he can do"
Blackpool are in the second year of the parachute money, so can still live beyond their means. Our parachute has got a large hole in it.
The Egyptian Government are going to buy Charlton. No more VOTV, CL or anything resembling a protest. Apart from sarcasm, I hope this has something in it, but that it's known up in Blackpool but no one here has a clue seems a bit far fetched.
Maybe Ince is saying... Charlton couldnt make a offer for Fuller UNTIL a takeover comes in for the club... rather than waiting for the takeover to be completed
Alan Pardew used all of our parachutes whilst we were sleeping and left us with a rubber dinghy and an inexplicable small Asian (part metaphor as I think Zheng Zhi might have left by then)
Maybe Chris Powell has just written his own P45 I don't know what the stats are for incumbent managers surviving long after a takeover, but my impression is that they have a short shelf life. Owners tend to want their own choices spending their hard earned. A takeover has to be a good thing simply because the pot is empty for the existing ones. Our squad is wafer thin and needs and fresh legs. I would be sorry to see Powell go if he does but it wouldn't prompt the tsunami of fake grief and breast beating that I suspect we are about to see from certain quarters.....
That is very harsh on Pardew. I will have you know that it was another club legend, Uncle Les Reed, who signed the diminutive kitchen sink ...
Sorry to be pedantic Nick but..... U Les had him on trial... it was the Sun Tanned one who signed him more of a shirt sale decision rather than a footballing decision.
Makes no odds. Pardew could spend whatever daft amount of money a board could offer him, and take the left overs as a contract pay off. Nasty piece of work. What sort of take over would we welcome. Sheiks or Russians with lots of petro-dollars, or well meaning Brits?
A Russian is doing OK at Chelsea Arabs are looking after Man Citeh An American is trying his best to screw Arsenal Manure are doing OK DESPITE their American owners Swiss have enables the South Coast Club to establish themselves as a prem team An Englishman has allowed Tottenham to spend £140m this summer So basically only the Yanks are bad news
Go directly to the naughty corner A4L, in the 80's he was our most famous supporter..... sitcom comedian.
He was in my sister's class at school - you can occasionally catch his most popular sitcom, Brush Strokes on one of the 'Gold' channels.
