Saw this on OTIB, and got to say I agree

I was listening to the radio the other day regarding managerial appointments, and the plight of clubs struggling, and the general consensus was, unless you had genuine football people at the helm pulling the strings, you're in trouble.

The board and their judgement are always responsible, not the manager.

Look no further than Ashton Gate for proof.

Although we have a multi millionaire sugar Daddy, who's keeping us afloat, with his son on the board, looking after Daddy's cash, what do we have?

People investing for a prestigious place on the board, but what else do they bring to the show, and how about the others, like the Chief Executive etc ?

They certainly don't appear to have a magnitude of football knowledge, or any class, by the way loyal servants of Bristol City F.C.have been pushed out the door, without the slightest show of appreciation and gratitude for years of dedication, and now it seems they're reaping the whirlwind.

You can't treat people like this and expect success.
    Karma at work maybe ?

I've never known such a gulf between club and supporters that exists today, after following City for well over 40 years, the relationship is stone cold, which is reflecting upon the attendances and the team.
It is completely riven, from top to bottom.

I feel really sorry for Mciness, as he's been given the impossible job of picking up the pieces after the heart and soul have been ripped out the club, by bringing in a host of outsiders, with zero feelings for BCFC. or connections to our past, no matter how banal it may have been at times.

I'm afraid the club is now a soul less zombiefied corpse of an entity.

Mr Lansdown needs to either bring in proper qualified people with real**passion and determination for Bristol City to succeed, or shock horror, looks for more investment from elsewhere, like the far east or America, or calls it quits.
His puppets are broken, and don't work, can't he see this, even from Jersey?

I'll never understand why he wants to have all the financial burden on his own shoulders, why won't he either stick in mega, mega bucks if he is serious about getting us up to the promised land, or share the club with an equally powerfull partner, or is does he crave the power ?
Why not actively put it out to see if there's any takers?

You can't help but feel sorry for the bloke, but bloody hell what a pigs ear he's managed to make of it all.

    Sack the board anyway !

Sorry I don't agree with much of that, SL tried to do the right thing by bringing Copout.....but had his fingers burnt.
What he has done wrong was not to continue in that path. I believe Copout was a one off, in fact I remember when he was appointed, I had worries.
I remember Reading fans, saying he lost the plot before leaving them.

What SL gives, is passion for the club he loves, like the rest of us........in my books, nothing wrong in that.
But football is a money draining business..if you want success, then you need to spend the cash........you get what you pay for.

I don't agree with slagging off the board at all although do agree about the souless bit. All of this is due to the increasingly degree to which fellow men are prepared to piss on each other with absolutely no compunction.

Its all about self interest and the need to have someone to blame for EVERYTHING and the invention of Twatter is probably the final straw in the head long rush of "civilisation" down the slippery slope as it is frankly one step away from the old lynch mobs. It will be the Spanish inquisition next with people being condemned by one with the mob in close pursuit...

Good start to the day prem and I think there are many factors affecting the overall well being of today's game. If I were to give my full feelings ink time then this board would not have any space left.

The soul has indeed gone out of the game and is now controlled, owned and played by people who quite frankly don't give a damn about anybody but themselves. Money and self self self rule the roost and I can remember one specific trip to Ashton Gate when I was behind the Atyeo prior to the game and watched the players arrive, one in a personalised plate Bentley, and thought to myself "you arrogant self centred pr**k". That player contributed nothing to our cause that day and is no longer an employee of BCFC.

It beggars belief that people in this game are more than prepared to take home their somewhat excessive salaries and don't feel they need to give much in return, especially loyalty and commitment.

Rant over so now I can go and watch my grandaughter play the beautiful game and then it's off to the airport to board Air Canada to Heathrow. Talk to you later.

    Agree with aspects of that.

Some of ther directors look as fans as an inconvinience. The clubs piss poor pr is down to them not accepting clubs are built on fans and football clubs are unile any other business. One director has taken pops at fans on twitter.

loyal servants have been pushed out the door causing bad feeling this bad feeling is also present amongst fans who have been involved in supporters groups. Fans do not want to work wth them as they feel their effort will not be appreciated.

Current directors are not investors but paid employees Keith Dawe apart.

Some current directors are outsiders and not fans of city or even football and they have no feeling for citys past and its traditions.

BCFC have totally lost their way and it is hard to work out what the long term picture is. Not so long ago academy players under wilson academy players would have a look in city ran close to break even, now it loses close on thirty million in three seasons!!

The way the club is run now people would not invest in it as the returns would be nil. The club now is unsustainable without SL's bail outs and money being turned into shares. That was not the case even five years ago. As the debts have gone up city have gone backwards!!
