So you want a player who would risk relegation for personal reward. One that values himself over the team? Hughes will know he pulled a sicky and will not sign him if he did so it would have been very stupid of him to try.
SB. That's exactly what it said on the radio when I heard it. Man city and Chelsea aren't reliant on the credit. Don't think we are either but obviously on a smaller scale. I think in the absence of cold hard cash the agents are hustling like fury and trying to earn there money. Hence rumour after rumour after rumour. Ultimately with Taiwo and Diakite , we got them on loans, we knew te risk we were taking. They helped keep us up and Diakite in particular turns out to be a hidden gem. If you run the risk you may pay the price in my opinion. Far better to pay more per week on salaries for these two next year than be lumbered with someone you don't want who may cost 11m to get rid of.
See this is the point you keep on missing. This is his job and his living and this can mean an extra few million quid and for all we know a team he would much rather play for has been sniffing around his agent. Therefore if you or Swords reply to this make sure you include a direct answer to this queestion; why should he pick 'the team' (and speciifcally our team QPR) over his family?
Its a ridiculous question because you're the one saying its between QPR and his family. I've not heard anything as preposterous on this Forum before and there's been plenty of crazy stuff posted here in the last year.
Hes hardly putting his family in poverty is he? The other players will not want to have anything to do with him if he faked an illness in their time of need. If you knew anything about team spirit then you wouldnt even be arguing. I dont give a crap if his family have to "struggle" on 30k a week instead of the 50k he wanted. Answer me this, why would you want to sign someone not committed to QPR and is only a mercenary?
I presume you'd have no problem with an out of contract Barton or Cisse on 50-odd grand per week pulling a sicky to squeeze another few grand outta the Club so their family can have 6 all-inclusive cruises next year instead of 5? This is the problem with modern society. Pure greed.
But it isn't prepostorous at all. It genuinely is more relevant. I mean for a start we werent even his team yet. He was on loan. and had been here since February after ACON. Family doesnt have to 'struggle'. Not sure what makes you the person who decides hoiw much money is enough money. If keeps it all to nhimself fine. If he uses it like Pappis Cisse to fund his extended family thats also fine. If like Drogba he uses some of his astonomical earnings to fund loads of community projects like building a hospital thats also fine. Sounds to me like your motivation isnt based on being proffessional and looking out for the team. Its more to do with envy. Your envy of people earning a lot more money than you. Flyer if another employer offered to increase your wages 20-40% would you turn them down? Literrally billions of people around the world worse off than you right now who could just as easily say where's your loyalty. They probably wouldn't because they recogniswe that it would be crazy to turn down. All back to my dfirst post of me not understanding why footballers have to live by a different moral code. You've not shown me any reason why they should and i cant think of any myself
Talk about totally missing the point. If you fake an illness in order to shirk your responsibilities whilst under contract, it is a breach of contract and a punishable offence in practically all areas of work, quite apart from the moral vulgarities of it all. What would happen to you if your boss found out you were faking illness when you were supposed to be on the job?
This whole thread is based on the assumption that he faked his illness, duping the clubs medical staff and the specialists they would have referred him to, unless they all colluded. Complete bollocks, and I hope his lawyers aren't reading.
Of course I would but I would never do business with anyone who lied to me. i have no problem with him wanting money, its the fact that he agreed a deal and reneged on it if the virus wasnt real. Someone like cannot be relied on to be there when needed in a team environment. This conversation is pretty ironic considering your username and the fact that he played for 15 mins with torn knee ligaments because we have made 3 subs, thats the sort of commitment I want.
Does anyone actually know what was in the loan agreement? I know there was first option to buy but that's it. What was meant to happen after 10 games? Why would we agree to anything that involved it because surely the point of a short term loan is to help us for the season and settle a price (was it £3.5M or similar) should we take up that option - why would we put another clause in the middle. Was it the player's clause that said if he didn't play a certain number of times then our option is null and void and negotiations start again? Assuming I've missed the vital thread answering all these then I'd say that we most certainly get rid. Damage - I take your point but, if he's prepared to potentially let us sink thanks to his absence, then he should definitely put his family first but I wouldn't want him to do it here. If he really did abandon the club for his personal gain then he should seek his fortune elsewhere (despite the fact that he is a marvelous player and prospect). Lot of ifs in there. I hope his illness was genuine (not that I'd wish him ill but you know what I mean) and that we can sign him at the wages he deserves based on our earnest evaluation of him.
Let's slate a player who hasn't even signed for us yet, we have no idea whats happening behind the scenes, i heard one rumour that hes got malaria ffs, no one can be sure whats happening and i would take diakite in an instant as he is a brilliant player and i believe he is a true gem
Totally agree with every word of that..... These athletes are blood teasted and have medicals every day to asses performance, recovery ilness etc.....I'd be VERY VERY surprised if he could pull this of alone...which brings me back to a huge conspiracy theory.....I just dont buy into it..and for the record..I believe in aliens !!
Latest on Taiwo: TAYE TAIWO says he is deeply honoured to be linked with Portuguese giants Benfica. It is being speculated that Taiwo could be used as makeweight in the deal by AC Milan to sign Benfica's Witsel in the summer transfer window. The defender who joined AC Milan last summer from Marseille failed to convince the Milan faithful, and had to be farmed out on loan to Queens Park Rangers in the winter market. ''If Benfica want me for next season, I can only thank them for the interest shown in me. My idea is to develop each season and next season will be no different. Therefore, Benfica is a good club so I can grow and improve. I think that fits well, because the Portuguese league has many quality players with great technique,'' Taiwo told Malaysia website Ibcbet Calm. According to the website, Queens Park Rangers has been told by AC Milan that they are not interested in selling Taiwo. ''I cannot change things. If I really do not continue here (QPR) in the summer I go to another club. My initial idea was to continue, because I think Queens Park Rangers is a club with growth potential. Manchester United and Chelsea are the biggest clubs in England, but Queens Park Rangers can slowly approach these two great clubs,'' Taiwo said. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/football-golf-boxing/48095-taiwo-happy-with-benfica-link.html
Bummer. If this is true then the press about the nature of the loan deal was very misleading. Looks like he would stay if possible. Not done yet.
Sounds to me that Taiwo is covering his bets. He wants to come back to LR but as a professional player he clearly needs to embrace other opportunities if that doesn't work out. I don't understand the comment that Milan do not want to sell but are actively considering a deal with Benfica. Surely just posturing to increase the price. The question to Taiwo is where do you want to play: for a small club but in the best club league in the world or for a big club but in a relatively low profile league. Taiwo and Diakite are pivotal investment decisions for TF and co IMO. If they are really determined to make a success of things then they have to make the funds available that will ensure these players return to LR. I can't see Hughes being too happy if he is not allowed the resources to retain such known quantities.
Absolutely, and getting these 2 sorted out quickly must be high on his agenda too, otherwise we are shopping for yet more players. Would do my peace of mind some good too.
