I've never been one to fall into this "tainted titles" pish anyway. When Celtic didn't win the league it was because we weren't good enough, end of story.

It's a disgrace the way Whyte has acted. Murray was clearly irresponsible and ego-driven. Whereas this Whyte seems like a shady, slimy ****. Where did that £24 million go?!?!

Over the coming days and weeks I'm sure we'll find out. Questions like that will have to be answered during the administration process.

Where is Whyte anyways? Still in Monaco? Oh ****, I've just had a terrible thought. Whyte is monacoger. monacoger and his shady dealings with Russians has been behind this all along. <yikes>

Even today Mccoist goes out his way to thank Motherwell , the situation / friendship between these two clubs is a disgrace and shows what goes on in Scottish football .,spl should hold an enquiry as to what is going on, he also thanked Dunfermline , Chris Sutton was right all a long

    wrong.

Misusing EBT's was of course illegal and is of course cheating.

If Rangers are shown to have misapplied the scheme, they will have cheated.

If they are shown to have misapplied the scheme then their accountants and tax lawyers messed up. Hardly cheating. Regardless of how much you desire it to be termed as such.

Even if it was applied correctly, they may still lose the case if it's HMRC deciding that they are going after companies who used EBT's. HMRC has previous for that kind of behaviour, the example I know of being IR35, where they moved the goalposts on a perfectly legal tax structure.

For fu..ed sake Gambol why do you think Rangers used this con scheme. Was it to evade paying Income Tax and make a contribution to the Vatican. or Was it to be able to employ a higher skilled more expensive player than they could afford to under conventional methods. Don't make your self out to be a complete clown.
There is no way your Basta.. Murray could have announced that for every £5 Celtic spends we will spend £10. only by illegal methods. Everybody knew it, when I went on to the Radio to explain it I wasn't let speak.
I am just wondering what other fiddles Rangers have been at.
We heard here yesterday of someone employed for I think 18 years and no record, therefore NO Nat Ins. or No Income tax. So maybe Whyte only extended the "scheme" from some employees to all employees.

    Don't be ridiculous Gambol.

Rangers took a view on their use of ebt's. Using those ebt's, they attracted players that otherwise they could not have afforded.

Celtic also took a view on ebt's. They believed that the scheme should not be applied in such a fashion. They did not attract players they could not afford.

I presume that other clubs also took a view on the use of ebt's and came to the same conclusion.

Rangers are the only club in scotland to use ebt's in this fashion. If they lose the tribunal, as I fully expect them to, they shall be shown to be the only club to gain an unfair advantage on every other club through this practice. This is, of course cheating.

To go even further, if the stories of the dual contracts and accompanying letters are true (I have no reason to doubt the veracity of these stories) then it demonstrates that Rangers were fully cognisant of the ramifications of their actions.

If Rangers lose the tribunal, then for an entire decade they will have fielded a team that had they adhered to the tax laws of the country they would have been unable to. This is certainly cheating.

    Should they lose

Very good reply gambol, no doubt you really have great ability to reply, but unfortunately you keep it hidden.

HMRC allege rangers used ebt's to avoid paying PAYE and national insurance contributions. If found guilty, rangers will be guilty of tax evasion and therefore also guilty of cheating. This isnt any slip up of lawyers or an administration errror. Its that rangers deliberately used ebt's to make up a players wages that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford.

Sorry, I missed this post last night.

You seem to know an awful lot about how Rangers implemented their EBT. Perhaps you should be involved in the tax case.

Organising your financial affairs to minimise tax liability, via EBT or otherwise, is not illegal. It's what they are for. It's why they exist. Not cheating. All we do know for sure is that after a decade HMRC now disagree with Rangers on how they were implemented. It's up to the tax lawyers to sort that out now.

Isn't one of the major factors here that the players were given covering letters, which are now in the hands of HMRC, informing them that the money wasn't to be paid back...in contradiction to what EBT's are actually about?

Sigh. EBTs or other schemes are not illegal. They exist precisely for the reason they are used. Or do you really think everybody in the country is PAYE?

Been hearing all sorts of guff. The only people who do actually know what's been going on are the accountants and lawyers. Now that there's a disagreement on how the EBT was implemented it's up to them to sort it out.

Nobody said they were illegal however if rangers are found guilty it will be because they used them illegally. Therefore rangers would be guilty of tax evasion and will have those titles stripped from them and handed too celtic.

If we lose the tribunal we'll owe the tax. We ain't got the money, so yes, ****ed. Ye'd think the rabid Celtic fans would be happy enough with that and stop spouting absolute pish about cheating.
