No wonder the media now seem unable to separate us - neither can the league table. 39/39. I really like Swansea, I admire their style of play, and I also respect the way they've done things the right way rather than the Questionable Pretentious Rubbish way. But I really really want to finish above them just to show their media groupies that Norwich are a pretty good team, too.
I like them as well, great footballing team and great work-ethic Wheels are coming off now though... lol, just like our where. We're better, we'll finish higher.
I like and admire their footballing philosophy too, but I honestly believe we're better due to our ability to mix things up if/when the occasion demands. As proven by our magnificent result gained by stopping their quick passing game when we faced them at the Liberty One of our performances of the season, for me.
At times yesterday we were playing some fantastic passing football, as we did against Wigan - only this time it was better. The media hasn't picked up on it like they have with Swansea. Only we don't stick to that type of play when it isn't working.
TBH I'm pretty sick and tired of the media's love-in with bloody Swansea. They went above us for the first time last week, yet they were the ones that were getting all the hype prior to this. Fact is, we've actually beaten them twice not the other way round. I know a lot of you are going to disagree with me, but what the hell this is how I feel, other than a few patronising comments from Lineker and co we've been given no real credit for our achievements this season. Because of this, to me,Swansea have been like an irritating piece of dog **** that you can't shift from the sole of your shoe. I just hope we end up finishing above them. There, I've said my piece !
I think they are so media friendly because they are exotic in English football. The tica taca style is pretty standard on the continent, but here it's novel, and a newly promoted side dedicated to playing it will always be an exciting prospect. I think we get better praise from pundits these days, but too little time to give us any detailed analysis, as always. Also a number of papers are giving us more time, the independents coverage of us has been very good, last December promoting the idea that our players were all undervalued and appreciated, due to the 'great team effort' label so often used for us. And with regards Swansea, i like them as a side, and am happy for them to soak up the pressure. If they are the new darlings our lads can focus on staying grounded, and not resting on their laurels next season. And when we have a slight dip in form, being at the back of the class is no bad thing, we get to sort it out without media doom-mongering getting in the players heads. And yes, we've taken 6 points from them to their 0, so even if they finish above us theres some pretty good bragging rights there!
Swansea get the coverage because they have beaten Arsenal and Man City. I don't begrudge them. In fact rather them than us, not least because Brendan Rodgers name comes up in just about every discussion about 'big jobs' - no pun intended. Obviously I want Norwich to finish higher than them, and have more future sucess but there are clubs and teams I like a lot less, and their fans seem like decent folks when commenting on here and on the old board - even when we were fighting it out for promotion - so good luck to them.
You could also add they get most of the attention due to the fact they're the first Welsh team to compete in the Premier League.
I think we need to get the chip off our shoulders about the media. We have played 30 games and we don't need to worry what they think or say good, bad or indifferent. We all disagree about players and performances on here and we love the club so why expect journos or pundits to be any different.
^agree^ Entirely^ I'm more than happy to stay under the radar! This season we don't have the Leeds effect, we have the Swansea effect!
Aye aye lads what's going on here ? Firstly I'd like to say that we (Swans fans) have a healthy respect for Norwich and recognise a good team when we see one. Also, your fans are not morons unlike your neighbours and ours. In my opinion the reason we've had more media coverage is because we're the first Welsh team in the Prem and because we were expected to be cannon fodder. You have been in the Prem before and also you're not a novelty. Just because the media don't shower you with praise all the time means nothing. You're a quality team, with terrific fans and a brilliant manager in Paul Lambert. I for one am delighted you'll be staying up, it's clubs like our two that give hope to fans all across the country that one day their teams can make it to the top league. So to conclude, don't worry what anyone says or doesn't say you're in the Premier League to stay and that's the bottom line. Keep the faith brothers.
In that recent poll Brendan Rogers got 47% of premier league managers votes and Lambert 40%. Think both sides can take pride in their season. WE SHOULD BE SECURE IN OUR OWN SUCCESS TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHEN OTHERS HAVE ALSO PERFORMED WELL.
I honestly couldn't care less how people/media portray Swansea. I'm just so proud of our own lads and they are all that matters Sent from HTC Sensation XE
What a great post, Norwich and Swansea are two clubs with two great sets of fans. We've both taken to the Premier League with respect but a steadfast determination to upset the odds... see you in next year's Champions League Final?
No problemo !!! I like it canaries, see you next season in the Premier League, Carling Cup Final and FA cup final, the following year in the Champions League, keep the faith brothers !!!
