    Swansea City v Rotherham

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Date - 21 November 2020
    Kick off - 3pm
    Venue - Liberty Stadium

Following their unlucky 1-0 away defeat at the hands of promotion rivals Norwich City, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against Rotherham.

A week last Saturday, Marco Stiepermann's precise finish six minutes from time saw Norwich edge out Swansea 1-0 in a high-quality contest.

Stiepermann swept home beautifully to earn Norwich three points in a game that underlined both sides' credentials as Championship promotion contenders.

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul made some excellent saves as Swansea failed to capitalise on clearer chances.

The win sent Norwich up to third in the table and a point behind top spot while the Swans slipped to sixth.

Whilst the Swans were losing at Carrow Road, Matt Crooks' late winner fired Rotherham to victory to end Preston's unbeaten away record after a dramatic finale.

The Millers went ahead when Michael Ihiekwe got on the end of a deep free-kick and headed back across to Richard Wood, who showed fine control and a neat finish.

Ryan Ledson looked to have earned the visitors a point with his first Preston goal with a superb long-range finish.

Crooks restored the lead with a calm finish after a great run and cross from Florian Jozefzoon, but there was still time for Jayden Stockley to head against the post for the Lilywhites.

As a result, Paul Warne's side remained in 19th place, while Preston dropped to 14th.

The Swans have played the Millers on 78 previous occasions, winning 28, drawing 25 and losing 25.

The teams last met at The Liberty on 19 April 2019 in front of a crowd numbering 18,527, when the Swans ran out 4-3 winners:

Turning to Saturday, the Swans will be without Andre Ayew who picked up a knock on international duty whilst training with Ghana. Ayew has been the Swans’ talisman this season and will be sorely missed: it will be up to Lowe and Gyokeres to take up the cudgels and fill the breach.

Given Ayew’s absence and the fact that the Swans always seem ‘off the pace’ following an international window, I’m going for a 1-1 draw - but hoping for a 2-1 win <cheers>

Ayew missing is a worry. We're short enough in the striking department as it is. Who knows though, someone else might step up. I'll go for an inexplicable 3 - 1.

Thanks for the preview again Taff...if Ayew is missing Saturday I expect Clueless to shut up shop and go on for a creditable no score draw....seriously perhaps the team as a whole will step up and score a fe2 goals to win easily....

Thanks Taff. I am hoping we don't suffer an International break reaction. Hopefully if Vik plays he will get off the mark. Its 1-0 for me.

    Thanks for the foreword @Taffvalerowdy
The millers are struggling having lost more than they’ve won or drawn. Has to be a home win.

It's strange watching the highlights at the top there with crowd noise <yikes> What a difference to now. Bizarre times.

Swansea City show four changes for this afternoon’s Championship clash with Rotherham at the Liberty Stadium, including a first start for striker Liam Cullen.

Cullen, Yan Dhanda, captain Matt Grimes and Ben Cabango all come into the side in place of Andre Ayew, Kasey Palmer, Korey Smith and Marc Guehi.

Palmer and Smith are among the substitutes, but Ayew and Guehi miss out with hamstring injuries.

Viktor Gyokeres and Jordon Garrick are absent from the bench having tested positive for Covid-19.

Gyokeres is self-isolating in Sweden having returned a positive test whilst on international duty, while Garrick is also self-isolating and following healthcare guidelines.

Tivonge Rushesha, Oli Cooper and Daniel Williams are named on an expanded nine-man bench following the alteration to EFL rules announced earlier this week.

Freddie Woodman starts in goal with Cabango joining Kyle Naughton and Ryan Bennett in the Swansea back three.

Connor Roberts and Jake Bidwell are the wing-backs, with Grimes returning to the side alongside Jay Fulton in midfield.

Dhanda starts at number 10, with Cullen joining Jamal Lowe in attack.

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Ben Cabango, Ryan Bennett, Kyle Naughton; Connor Roberts, Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Yan Dhanda; Liam Cullen, Jamal Lowe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Joel Latibeaudiere, Ryan Manning, Korey Smith, Kasey Palmer, Wayne Routledge, Tivonge Rushesha, Oli Cooper, Daniel Williams.

Rotherham United: Jamal Blackman, Ben Wiles, George Hirst, Jamie Lindsay, Wes Harding, Michael Ihiekwe (captain), Angus MacDonald, Matt Olosunde, Matt Crooks, Dan Barlaser, Florian Jozefzoon.

Substitutes: Viktor Johansson, Adam Thompson, Kyle Vassell, Mickel Miller, Trevor Clarke, Michael Smith, Billy Jones.

    Referee: Matthew Donohue
