20 Quid is OK, it's the 5000 Quid that's the problem

That is quite gobsmacking, how can someone risk that sort of money, it's staggering.

It really should be identified as a mental illness when people lose control of the amounts gambled.Someone very close to me discovered my safe unlocked when I went on holiday I came back to seven k missing it had been fed into a fixed odds terminal around the corner to me.Another mate one of the most straight laced people imaginable doesn’t drink or smoke never gambled in his life decided god knows why to start late night online gambling and blew £40 k in two weeks on credit cards he would max one out than apply for another. To this day he can offer no explanation but it is certainly designed to draw you in .Never mind all the baloney on tv with famous faces asking you to bet safe ,set limits etc it should in imo be shut down totally but that’s never going to happen.

I haven't gambled for a couple of years now, but I've no idea how or why I gave it up. I just got bored of it all I suppose.

Back when I did bet the best wins I got were from eight game accumulators.

To be fair I do wonder if I should take it up again, as my stake was just £10, so there was never any self hatred when I didn't win (which was often).

If I made this bet and lost, I don't know £10 a week for a year, I'd still be 2k up by the end of the year and playing it that way, I could never lose big.

Having a bet can be fun, but always take your losses on the chin, don't blindly chase your money back, because I'm sorry, It's gone for good :emoticon-0121-angry

That level of betting & losses is mind blowing, perhaps this going public is the best thing that could have happened to the guy he clearly needs help, it’s beyond the denial phase now.

It also kinda explains why scunny have been a car crash under his ownership

I was the horse racing tipster for a local newspaper back in the day. It wasn't my fulltime job and I sort of fell into it, probably because no-one else in the office could be arsed. My 'tips' appeared in the daily paper and some people even followed them. I had a bit of success, one or two doubles came up trumps so, obviously, i thought I was invincible. We got paid on a Thursday lunchtime, cash in a pay packet and mine amounted to just over £6, that's how long ago it was. So feeling as though I had the midas touch I backed the double I had tipped in the paper with all my wages. Of course both horses lost. I couldn't believe it. It meant I had no money for the rest of the week and I had to walk too and from work until the next pay day. But it cured me. I knew a local fella who bet £20k on a massive odds on favourite in a two horse race over hurdles, and it fell and broke it's leg and I'm talking thirty odd years ago. Mugs game.

He should have backed Scunny for back to back relegation, he would be jizzing in his kegs now.

Horrible arsehole and deserves everything he has coming to him. Had over so many good people in recent years.
