How many millions has he spent? Over-priced not very good players have found him out, he's got what he and the stupid owners deserve...
Sven-Goran Eriksson sacked as Leicester City manager Eriksson won 24 of his 55 games in charge of the Foxes Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has been sacked as boss of Leicester City, BBC Sport understands. The 63-year-old has overseen an inconsistent start to the season after having spent heavily in the summer. The Foxes have won five of their 13 league games this term and were beaten 3-0 at home by Millwall on Saturday. City were taken over by Thai-based consortium Asia Football Investments in August 2010 and appointed ex-Manchester City manager Eriksson in October. At the time, the club were bottom of the Championship but Eriksson, who was able to recruit the likes of defender Kyle Naughton and striker Yakubu on loan from Tottenham and Everton, led them to a 10th-place finish after winning 17 of 36 matches. During the summer, the Swede recruited a number of high-profile players, backed by the financial clout of the club's owners. These included Matt Mills from Reading for £5m, fellow defender Sean St Ledger from Preston, striker David Nugent and midfielder Neil Danns on free transfers and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for an undisclosed fee from Leeds. I am surprised he lasted this long. I stated several times last year that he would suddenly decide to leave and take on the some small, national team for big bucks. Of course, this is the next best thing. He will receive a nice golden handshake. Like many managers who have success with one, sometimes two clubs, they find it hard to replicate that success anywhere else - at whatever level. Thank God we didn't end up with him. The fact that he was yet another tit who couldn't keep it in his trousers had nothing to do with it.
Yes, Sven overpaid for certain players, but despite poor results the last few games, Leceister still have 19 pts, only 2pts out of 4th spot - not a bad record for a Championship team chasing promotion. Certainly glad we are out of that division though.
What on Earth is the point of hiring a manager and giving him millions to spend in the summer then getting rid in October when they're well on course for a playoff finish. I feel sorry for the fans and that morbidly obese drum player but these chairmen are phenomenally short-sighted. Who exactly will they get in to lead them to guaranteed glory? Mugs.
I have just seen on the Leicester board that have put up a list of the odds on who will be the next manager. Steve McLaren 12/1 Steve Clarridge 100/1 (I kid you not!)
Won Serie A with Lazio, took England to consecutive quarter-finals which might seem poor in this country where we convince ourselves we have a world-class side but it's still noteworthy. He won the Uefa Cup and Swedish domestic double in the same season, the Portuguese league, got Benfica to a European Cup final, won the Coppa Italia with two clubs and the Cup Winners' Cup. As much as we take the piss out of him in this country he's a very good manager and didn't deserve to be sacked by poxy Leicester.
