Well he's gone, and their Thai owners are looking for a high profile manager, but they want a manager that they have heard of................I can't believe they are talking about Roy Keane famous as a player, but what has he done as a manager? Martin O'Neill is also mentioned (a good call IMO) not really interested,,,,,,,,,,,but how much money can they throw at him? Alan Curbishley also in the frame,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but not a "big enough name"
Look back at the pre-season comments. Some had Leicester as a cert to go up. But we've seen before that you can't buy promotion. Sven has never really cut it as a club manager. Was he that good as an international manager? He bought good players as individuals but never really built a team. Hmmm, where have we herad that before? Just repeating what was said a few months ago.
Really sad to see him go as I think his replacement will get that squad working better. He was keeping a squad that could have been one the powerhouses in the division midtable. I heard a Leicester fan on 606 complaining he brought in a load of players who were basically the same as what they had. I have to agree that apart from Mills few of the players he brought really stood out as superstars at champo level. With the 'fact' Leicester's spending meant they were apparently nailed on for promotion it would make me chuckle if the new guy fails too. Oh please let it be Roy Keane.........!
Roy Keane would be so laughable, hope it happens (Not that I have anything against Leicester) but it would be so funny to see the foreign investors lose out big time
i've got respect for what sven has achieved at england and before, but since then he hasnt done anything but pick up compensation after compensation payment for failing. its remarkable that the owners of leicester hire an expensive foreign manager with no championship experience, give him a massive budget then sack him in october, now theres a sure fire way to waste money in football.
Swamp - that seems to me to be exactly the difference between our Malaysian investors and the Thais at Leicester. TG and VT did what they had to do financially to sort the club out and probably a little bit more to be fair, whereas the King Power crowd have just chucked money at it and gone for broke with Sven and his imports. Well, it hasn't come off (so far) and that could be an expensive mistake. I'm just glad we've got our lot rather than theirs.
yea, it seems owners with common sense are in short supply nowadays i just cant for the life of me see the logic in giving a manager over £10m to sign his own players as part of his own philosophy then sack him 2 months after doing so, will the players that sven signed, and no other championship manager would (like gelson fernandes) want to play for an 'old school' english manager? i doubt it. at least on the continent where they hire and fire managers far more often, they are usually working under a 'general manager' who deals with transfers and are working to the clubs philosophy, not necessarily the coaches, so that if they do decide to dispense with the coach, at least the next one in can slot in more or less seamlessly.
