Shocking. Watkins credited with the goal but their keeper threw it in. He fell over with his head in his hands and dropped that as well. No pace, no creativity and no real desire to win. Going to be a long season. Too many one paced, I was going to say wonders, but they are far from that.
Hadn't realised we were an early kick off Not sure why we've signed Watkins for a month but he's gone a way to earning his keep already.
Better second half gave us the 3.2 win. Looked more of an attacking threat when Murphy and Colwill came on with a bit of pace and guile. Defensive mix up on 90 minutes gave them their second and then a bit of excitement when their keeper came up for a late corner, thankfully headed wide. Overall a poor display with Smithies not inspiring confidence, Nelson right off form and young Tom Davies at left back tried hard but a lot of what he did just didn't go right. He will get more chances. Sang did okay at right back and played some good through balls. Morrison, not fully fit I would say, did okay and, as usual, Flint won most in the air but you really don't want him under pressure with the ball on the ground. I thought Vaulks battled well with Wintle still off the pace. Moore won nearly every air ball and got stuck in but still not 100% fit. Harris worked hard rarely seemed to be in the right places for Moore's touches. Watkins got his 2 goals, first courtesy of their keeper and the second a good finish. He worked hard but is nothing special. At least we won a first round game for once. Wonder what delights await us next round?
