I agree and I would go as far to say he should take Gerrards place in the team and play the attacking midfield role (while Shelvey is absent that it) . He is by far our most creative player in the final third and has an eye for a through ball all the time.

  2. Not sure about that:

    Allen - 22
    Sahin - 24
    Suso - 18
    Sterling - 17
    Suarez - 25
    Assaidi - 23

There isn't a great deal of experience in there. I'd rather see Gerrard in the hole with Suso coming off the bench. Of course, if Gerrard goes back to how he was performing prior to the Man Utd game then why not <ok>

What is good though, is that doesn't even include Lucas and Shelvey to both come back to the first team. If you add Borini and hopefully a good striker in January, things will look much better.

  4. Absolutely. The CM three from Gerrard, Sahin, Lucas, Allen, Shelvey and Henderson looks particularly tasty <ok>

    ----Allen---Sahin----
    --------Suso-------
    Suarez Gerrard Stirling

Pacheco and Assaidi as good attacking options on bench, with Borini if fit or Yesil/Morgan

Gerrard and Allen were fantastic side by side against United. I'd keep them together.

Either at Suso or Sahin in front of Sahin on the left of a three.

My concern is can Gerrard play like that consistently? He only seems to be up for the big games (Everton last season) and Utd this season...

  8. As much as I like the look of Suso, I'd play Sahin alongside them as a three (since Rodgers plays 433). They are all able to sit and protect the defence and all can take up offensive positions too although Allen is a little questionable here.

Suso is a very good option to have on the bench (along with Assaidi, Pacheco, Hensderson, etc) plus he can play further forward if needs be <ok>

Plus I share this concern <ok>

I'd agree - Sahin has more experience and should be ahead of Suso IMO. However, Sahin looked brilliant when he sitting deep - demanded the ball and really dictated the play. Do we play him further up field or let Gerrard play the more advanced role?

commands play from deep positions and can spray the ball around BUT..... he got into the box, let me repeat that, a midfielder, playing for LFC, got into the box!

I was shocked when I saw it! Haha

Was great to see Suso driving into the box, Assaidi providing support down the wing and Suso being the man at the end.

Seriously though, Suso drove it to the edge so right on top of the box, assaidi out wide coming into the box, Sahin and Sinclair in the box. ****ing hallelujah!

  13. Why do we have to have just one that gets forward? If we have Sahin, Allen and Gerrard int he middle then I'd say Allen should sit with the other two being able to get forward. Obviously not every time but I see no reason that they can't both do it. The bigger question comes when Lucas returns. I'd play Lucas with Allen and Gerrard against the better sides and stick to the first trio in the so-called lesser matches <ok>

It was brilliant! Would like to see it more often though!

But credit to the youngsters - they have been brought up in the right way and we're reaping the benefits.

The seniors need to take note - Gerrard and Downing in particular need to raise their game.

Gerrard still has the game, just needs to apply it to teams outside of that rivalry kind of zone ( United, Everton, Chelsea, City) for example. Downing never ****ing had it. 20 million- probably only worth a grease down and shiatsu!

Maybe Sahin and Suso should both play.

Aquilani used to get in the box a lot from deep midfield roles.

Fair point. I think Sahin is pretty versatile in either role so he could be floating around in the middle (in between the specialist DM and CAM). In fact, Gerrard is the same although I would prefer to see him higher up the pitch. But then again, Rodgers says that we'll see the best out of Allen once he is able to push up the pitch (when Lucas comes back) ...

    Pretty versatile midfield ....

  18. Yep, very clear that Lucas is still by and far our best DM. Interesting that Lucas can play both DM and a more advanced role too but he is the opposite way round to the others, he is better at the DM <ok>

Unless Stevie can play at the same level as he did against Utd, then I would prefer Sahin and Suso ahead of him. Bar the odd performance, he has been extremely poor.

When I see Sahin and Suso play, once they get the ball, they look up, find a pass and then instantly move to another position. This movement and intelligence is crucial in a system like this. I don't see this in Gerrard and I think it's something that Shelvey needs to learn.

Yep, Lucas has made that position his. I'm sure he could play in a more advanced role but I think we would all rather him stay as DM. Fantastic player and I hope he can recover the same form before he was injured :)
