CGO - how will you do against Colchester this weekend ? I have a feeling in my water that its 3 points for us again this week ,and none for Saints!
I don't know. We have been too inconsistent to secure an auto-spot and our record against Colchester isn't great. But we do have to win though, it won't necessarily decide the final table but we need the confidence and form that has been lacking if we are to steal an automatic promotion place. You lot are doing very well given your fiscal problems, i am surprised.
Exactly as Colin says - we are VERY surprised! Great buzz about the city at present though - no felt since our promotion season! Even the missus is coming along tomorrow - her idea! Anyone know if we can expect a full house tomorrow?
So do I - its her first time at FP - I took her to Coventry away on the first day of the season - but hopefully she will enjoy this one more than her first! The team had better win - i still need to justify spending money on my ST next season! Haha!
Anyone else remember last game of the 86/87 promotion season against Sheff Utd? Nearly getting crushed in the Fratton End and having to climb up to the top level(that had been closed for safety reasons). I started the game in the lower Fratton End, then top, then moved to the North, then South, then Milton end, ended up on the pitch infront of the Fratton end.
Hello you skate bastards, this is much better than 606! We will be joining you in the Championship soon and then the real banter will begin, cant wait!
It is going to be so funny if we get all 3 points at home tomorrow and they slip on at the banana skin that is Colchester United!
It won't be funny for us thats for sure, we have suffered enough bad results....mind you I do think it is going to be an odd goal either way. We are due a break surely....... I would like to think you guys can make the play offs, it would bring in some extra revenue. It wouldn't be wise to go up though as you would be just the whipping boys as you would not be able to buy to sustain you in the premier. then you would be all down again and moaning at us as if it is our fault, like you did before.
West Brom have been going up and down for a while, and I reckon they are secretly getting rich off it somehow. I haven't worked it out yet.
To be honest mate it seems the only way for a club to turn a profit these days. In the past you could do it by being prudent and bringing through youth players. As for Brom and other yoyo sides - it's easy. Step 1 - Win promotion in the first place, accept approx ã30-40 million in prem income. Step 2 - Put half of that into the bank. Step 3 - Buy older players who are desperate to prove they still have it and anyone else not currently holding down a regular place. Step 4 - Give it everything and take advantage of the good run of form most promoted sides seem to get (similar to the Cup thing). Step 5 - Stay up and repeat or get relegated and accept a nice ã7 million cheque (or whatever the parachute is these days). Step 6 - keep most of your players who were not big stars anyway and look to get straight back up.
