Hey fellow Pompey fans, a bit of a dilema for you to ponder and respond to. Once we become safe in the league, is it acceptable to support the Saints in gaining promotion, so that we will have the four biggest South Coast clubs in one leage (and a guaranteed 2 derby games )? I would personally be quite happy to see them linger and rot in League 1 , but some other fans from 606 have said they want to see them promoted. So I was just curious as to what other fans thought? Support that Saint = 0 votes Want them to remain in League 1 = 1 vote
It would be good to see Bournemouth and Brighton in the Championship, with Stains remaining in League 1, Aldershot being promoted from League 2 and League 1 in consecutive seasons! Stains only the fifth best club in Hampshire!!
Welcome to not606 Jake. I don't know if you're aware but you can attach a poll to the article. If you go back and edit it and scroll down, you will see the section near the bottom. I for one would consider it to be a good thing if Saints, Brighton and Bournemouth all got promoted. To have all four of us in the same division would make for some very interesting week-ends!
I will support all the southern teams WHEN Pompey are safe. I don't care what others think - southern football has never had it so good! As one person on 606 informed me, next season COULD be the first season in which all 4 teams on the south coast (PFC, SFC, AFCB & B&HA) will be gracing the same division ever! Exciting times! But lets first get to the magic 52 point marker before we start egging anyone else on!
I go with the majority here - let them remain in non-league obscurity. Brighton and Bournemouth are enough derby's for me.
Be very careful lads cos we might get upset with the negativity. I will be glad when you have reached safety because that will mean we will play you at least twice next season. Though I understand the reason behind some of you saying that you don't want us to meet next year. Sheer fright at the thought of us exacting revenge.
Correct!! We have the better squad with a few additions in the summer, we will destroy the skates!! Looking forward to it. COYR
On paper they look capable of going up but then so did Leeds Utd. League 1 is notoriously difficult to get out of so over confidence could be their downfall. They apparently play good football on a decent pitch like at St. fairies but like a racehorse that does not like mud, places like Tranmere Rovers have seen upsets two seasons running now!. I almost expect a shock dropping of all 3 points for them at Walsall tonight!
Even though I would love to see all the southern teams in the same division next season, I would not be able to contain my laughter is Brighton and Bournemouth alone came up. Saints - 4th in the south with Aldershot on their heels!
I don't usually comment on tit for tat threads like this one but, fair play to you SFCbwSFC, that took a lot of class to come on here so soon after a defeat and the frustration, you describe, that accompanies it. You are a good sport.
Fair comment, but I still take people at face value whoever they follow. There are some Southampton fans who, I agree, fit the bill you suggested, but I don't talk to them unless they come on our board giving it the big one. Check some of my history on BBC606 and you will see I can be a rough tumbler sometimes!
