An 'ex drummer' you say - well that explains a lot Seriously mate I certainly wouldn't want to be put in a box whilst playing live-most drummers would say that you'd want to feel the music that's going on around you -I know I do - as regards to Dolly's drummer -I thought he was unprofessional at times whilst playing Glastonbury for instance he was hitting drums whilst she was talking between songs - that'd piss off most singers also he went for big endings on the songs that didn't fit the music - in my opinion
Your post was entirely about Hull City, where they were playing and how many tickets they'd sell. I have no idea how many tickets we'll sell, it's only a qualification game, it's short notice and it's basically a pub team a three hour flight away, but we don't care. It's not a minor cup competition, it's the second biggest cup competition in Europe and though it's obviously not the Champions League, it will do for us. As for modern football in general, it's fairly ****, ticket prices are stupid, half the players are overpaid ****ers and it's hard to love the game like we once did. It's a shame, but it's not going to change.
A great drummer carries the group without anyone really noticing imo ....... a bit like a good referee in a match. He was getting above himself a bit tbh. I also thought she missed a trick by performing her 'stadium' routine and not letting it be a bit more free & spontaneous.
No it wasn't. As other people realised immediately I was using Hull as a mere example of the drawbacks of modern European competition. You, of course, take it personally and see it as the perfect opportunity to start an argument. If it was about Hull I'd have taken the trouble to do a bit of research and find out specific facts about venue, tickets etc. Of course you don't know how any tickets you'll sell or whether you'll be there. The competition is so ****ed up that, with just over a week away, you don't know who you'll be playing. It's a very minor competition, in the initial stages, and one that drains the resources of the smaller clubs. BTW, as you know so much about Hull, how about answering one of my original questions. In your opinion how many would you guess will be there for your first ever European home match?
I agree to some extent but considering a lot of her singing performance was not live 'vocally' she had to stay within pre requites of the live tracks

I'll be there, I'm always there, even for pre-season friendlies against your mob in Portugal. I'd expect us to sell out the home game, but City fans are a fickle bunch, so I might be wrong, it depends if we have to pay the £7.50 it costs for the first leg, or if we try and shaft people for £30 a ticket.
Made me cringe tbh ..... it was way too staged and rehearsed. It was like a Ben Elton, 'look at me I'm down with the kids' sketch. I was really impressed with her backing singers, total class.
This is true but we can get away with it provided drums & bass work together. If they don`t, the whole thing falls apart. The main difference would possibly be someone like The Eagles where the emphasis is more on vocals and harmonies but for rockier stuff, a good solid `back line` is the engine room. The rest is frills. imo.
I was watching a brilliant performance by Paulo Nutini, Iron Sky, on Jools Holland the other night. The whole band, guitars, brass, backing singers are fabulous and the kid on the drums is stuck at the back but keeping it all together.
