I'm not hoping that they drop but with every passing week Sunderland look more like a team that might go down - playing terribly and getting poor results whilst teams below them are getting some points here and there. Now I see Fletcher has gotten injured in the international last night with a possible fractured ankle.

Their run-in looks hard and you could realistically see them getting 0 points from the next 4 fixtures (Man Utd home, Chelsea away, us away, Everton home). Then they'll be reeling going into the final 4 which includes 6 pointers vs Villa and Southampton, a tough one against Stoke and another very hard final game away at Spurs.

    Looks very iffy for them.

I don't want to see them drop either. Don't even like thinking of how much trouble they are in either cos if we lose to Man City (probably expected) and lose the derby (form counts for nothing) then we will be below them. If they are in trouble....

The next few games are crucial for them. They have a run that no team would want. I think their run is such that they need to be looking at geting something from the derby. Problem is, so might we if we lose our next two.

We'll know more about whether they're serious contenders after the final whistle at Sjp.

Bottom of the form table with a horrid run and their main striker injured.

Having said that 4 points or so from the next two would turn them around I think, although its a tall order.

    This..

Losing any games at this stage is never good no matter who we play. I think given the very likely outcome of our next game, we really MUST beat Fulham.

    Wow, I'm totally gobsmacked.

Mag fans with positive thoughts regarding safc.

I would like to see you's go down, but the fact that the comments are positive and not littered with abuse is rather overwhelming.

    Well done you lads.

There is no good reason to want you to go down. It's a common misconception though.

As long as we finish above you, or even just get the better of the derbies I'm happy

The simple fact is we don't obsess about SAFC. Plus we usually do well against you chaps points wise.

Fair enough marra, it's a change from some of the shocking abuse I read on other forums between both sets of fans.

Still want you's to go down though, I'd be lying if I pretended otherwise.

Actually, whenever we talk about Sunderland on here, it's usually just banter. It's the Mackems that usually come up with **** about us.

Now I'd rather see Wigan go down - for obvious reasons.

    Quite.

Ideally it would be the Toon to win the Premiership and then have Boro and Sunderland, each year, fight it out for the second slot.

This can only be bettered if Wigan were then playing each week against Workington.

I'd prefer Gateshead, Blyth Spartans and Whitley Bay to be in the Champions League places, with Boro, Hartlepool and Darlington in the Europa league places. Would still want Sunderland doing well, just not qualifying for Europe in case they were drawn against Milan - it would be such a sad waste of a good song!

Banter is the best way to go I think, just because I'd be happy to see you relegated, docent mean I'm going to come on to your board and throw foul mouthed threats and abuse around.

Most Geordie fellas are quite decent, for mags:emoticon-0111-blush.

    It's just a football thing.

Just so you know, even though I don't want you to go down, I reserve the right to laugh at you when you do ;)

Would love to see all the NE teams doing well and competing for silverware on a regular basis. Sadly, that's not where we are now. I hope both teams stay up, with us finishing highest of course. But neither of us look safe just yet. Wouldn't be the same without the derby matches. And the banter is better if we're both top flight.

As Exiled Geordie said, I'd still reserve the right to laugh IF they go down. But it would be with a heavy heart.

If I'm honest, I now really hope that Villa, QPR & Wigan drop.

Looks like they're the likeliest to go down, but it wouldn't bother me a great deal which of the teams below us went down.
