    Can the fans keep us up?
    I've been reading a few players praising the fans this last few days saying things like 'They inspire us' and
    @VitoMannone88
    for the 1500 Sunderland fans that travelled that far!true passion as always,so even more #HawayTheLads @SunderlandAFC
    Will the passion from the fans inspire the players ?
    I bloody hope so.

    Simply no, we can play our part but only the people involved with the playing squad can. Be they players, manager, coaches or owners only they can intervene to stop the inevitable happening and even if they don't we will still play our part as we are the only non toxic element of the club at the moment.

    Mercenaries the majority of players these days.

    Not sure if you saw that Anichebie this where his guy running his Twitter account copied and pasted "say something lines of.." And tweeted the whole thing when he should have deleted that part.

    Just empty words IMO from most of them.

    Anichebe played well tonight.
    He certainly looked to be inspired by the travelling Sunderland fans chanting his name for most of the game.

    One thing in common players and fans share. We're fickle.

    If they're saying they're inspired - are they saying that great support is taking them to a narrow defeat rather than a hammering ?

    Sunderland have had great support especially away from home for as long as I've supported the club.
    No matter how dire things are on the pitch there is a hard core of support who never give up.
    I've been following the lads since 1959 and like many others enjoyed the banter when travelling to away games with if I'm honest very little optimism of getting an away win.

    Its a pity the clubs players have rarely matched the passion of the fans and I suppose thats a greater disappointment to me than in my club failing to win trophies on a regular basis, unlike fans of Man Utd, Arsenal et al who have grown up expecting success we have feasted on crumbs for many decades.
    Its such a pity.

    Positivity breeds positivity and the negativity does not help one bit.. It is not just the fans though, but the while club seems to be in the midst of a negative downer..
