Looking on ours and the Jacks board almost makes me wish for the days of the BBC 606, almost! From too much censorship to near chaos, from too much law and order to not enough control. Threads are easily destroyed by anyone who doesn't like the topic or disagrees with someone else's viewpoint. The Mods have an awful job if they are fair-minded Mods, and do an awful job if they are not. Football talk is put to one side while pointscoring takes pride of place, banter replaced by outright slanging matches. I don't know what the answer is, we will all have different ideas I'm sure, but if something isn't done then one wonders how long certain boards can continue in this vein, the numbers will dwindle as posters look elsewhere for football talk without the hassle. Signings None!(so to speak) Plenty of time yet, but so far I have not been overawed by those linked, either the price or the player as been a problem. Something to get used to is the big bucks wanted and paid once you enter the big boys league. A few pacey and work orientated players are wanted, but I also think we need to put a bit of faith in those we have, Campbell and Maynard may flourish in a Malky PL team and prove valuable in getting those golden goals we will need, can we afford to find out too late they can't do the required? I am very excited about the coming season but also very nervous, be nice to get a few games under our belt wit some decent displays. I am tempted to write about the rebrand here, I certainly think about it, a lot! But it's been done to death on another board and it's hard to think of anything new to say on it. It's going to be busy soon so lets get back on the football trail and try to have some regard for other decent posters.
My general approach is to ignore the rubbish, which means I ignore a lot of threads. I get drawn in from time to time but generally try and avoid it. Looking forward to the pre-season anticipation but have other things to keep me busy until then. Lots of rugby to watch and trout to catch before the season kicks off. As with you Sweet Blue, not overly inspired by some of the players we've been linked with. We need to keep recruiting youth (from the kids up to 20 year olds) but desperately need a couple 'been there done that' prem players with a few years left in them. That experience could be vital.
I must admit I hate the slanging on not606 I'd love to go back to the BBC 606. Like many I find myself drawn into it, grown men back in the school yard. As far as signings I'll wait and see, Malky will get some wrong but on the whole he'll do a great job. There will be some in our squad who will revel in the Prem, more space etc. So on this Sunday my thoughts are I can't wait for the new season to start.
Yes, some extra experience to go along with Bellamy wouldn't go amiss, and no doubt we will make a record signing, hard to think we won't. In our first season keeping afloat is what it will be about, and if we are able to nurture a few youngsters while we do that, than it's all good.
There is no comparison between this and the Jacks board. Some of the old timers on there should know better. Arguing amongst themselves again.
