With just 4 winners from 26 runners in November, Nicky Henderson is having only a moderate start to the NH season. However he is very adept at getting one ready for a big handicap and I think his Iberico Lord can win the Greatwood today. His last hurdles victory came in the 2024 Betfair Hurdle where he gave L'Eau Du Sud (yes the horse that beat Jonbon et al on Friday) 5lbs and beat him a couple of lengths off a mark of 134. Last season was a bit of a write off for Iberico Lord after an abortive try at chasing but I think Henderson will have him cherry ripe today. Normally I would be backing Alexei in this but I can't have him on soft ground and I think Iberico Lord looks a cracking good bet at 8/1 off a mark of 139.
Whilst Final Demand will probably win (15:07 Navan) I couldn't back him at 1/6 and I think Wingmen might be worth an e/w dabble.
the ground wasn’t as bad as it was suggested, the times yesterday suggested it hadn’t had the same impact I’d expected.
