We were linked to him in the January window (as somebody helpfully mentioned at the time...) From what I can find out, which is very little, he's the sort of defender who throws himself in the path of shots, sort of like Sandro used to do for us, although he's not that good in the air.

Nope. I watch the highlights show and the ocassional full match but I've never taken any notice of him and not seen anything that makes him stand out(unsurprisingly since he's a defender). I'd like to see us go for Bellarabi and Volland in the summer though, both would fit our style well.

    Bit worrying considering he's 6'2.

Not heard of Bellarabi. Seen clips of Volland though, who looks a good player, he usually gets a good scout report on Football Manager for what it's worth.

Bellarabi's at Leverkusen so might be a bit difficult to get because they're a good side. Then again Holtby wanted to leave Schalke for us so you never know, we could surely afford to pay him more than Leverkusen if that's what it came down to. I just think he's one of those players that would fit right in, he works hard, is skillful without being one of those players that does millions of step overs and makes good decisions in the final third.

Yeah, I heard that too but from the sounds of how good he is on Football Manager he'll struggle to live up to that but he's a good fit like Bellerabi and can play a few different roles in attack. A bit like Schurrle but a bit stronger and not as quick(though not slow).

Peter Crouch is 6'8" and heading is the weakest part of his game.

I've never agreed with this assessment of Crouch's aerial ability. He's crap at attacking the ball in a traditional manner, but he wins loads of headers.
Flicks ons and knock downs are almost a guarantee for him, but he's not strong enough to hold people off and he lacks technique when going for goal.
Having him as the first man when defending free-kicks and corners makes things extremely tough for the other side, too.

Oh and one of the best headers we have seen in English football. World class header.

Being a reasonable person I have very little but good things to say about Peter Crouch. His superb answer to the question "What would you be if you weren't a footballer?" (answer: "a virgin") and the fact that he's 6'7" are tattooed onto my wife's brain along with only about 20 other facts about football.

But I have to respectfully disagree with PNP's disagreeing about his heading. I think in his time with us he showed himself to be, if anything, clearly below average at heading (for a centre forward). Yeah he'd get flick-ons etc but actual power and accuracy and goal-attempt headers were not all that good, as I recall. Many a time I found myself thinking how he had "a bad head for a big man".

Technically very good, though and that goal he scored a couple seasons back (did it win goal of the season?) - the one in the opening credits of MOTD - that is a truly beautiful goal.

If memory serves it didn't win. Was it the same year as Cisse's lazy strike against Chelsea?

"HE'S BIG, HE'S TALL, HE HATES THE ARS-EN-AL, PETER CROUUUCH! PETER CROUUUCH!"

Crouch without the height would've never been a footballer at this level but the fact he is a giant beanpole means he's a very handy person to have in your team/ squad. His height is something you simply can't train for as an opposition player without jumping on his back and committing a foul, yes he has occasionally been beaten aerially by certain CB's but ultimately if you're looking for a punt up field and for someone to win it 9 times out of 10, Crouchy's your man, especially in Europe, CBs just aren't used to dealing with someone like him, which is why I think he was so prolific in European competitions and on the international stage for England.

That was what I was trying to say. He wins the ball well for non-goal attempts, but didn't attack it well in the air.
He was certainly no Les Ferdinand, for example.

Surprised not to see this one here, with all the highlights being posted:

    Right, header, left, perfect. <ok>

We're being linked to Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani once again, although there's two things I'm wary of: the striker we signed from the Portuguese league was Helder Postiga, and I dread to think of Britain First's reaction to a player named Islam signing for us...

Crouch should have had far far more caps for England. A perfect example of where scoring record is irrelevant as he doesn't "fit the part". An example of a player that clearly suits international football but was not used enough.

So either Bundesliga players are easy to defend against, there's a mistake with the stat computer - or we're on the verge of paying €6m for The Great Wall of China...

Their fans will absolutely ****ing love that! <laugh>
The quote is exceptionally vague, though. He clearly hasn't made up his mind where he's playing next season, assuming it's accurate.
