Do you reckon BR is thinking of Walcott through the middle mainly and then Suarez on the right? I think a front 3 of: Sterling--Walcott--Suarez Can cause problems for any defence. Adding onto that the options we have to swap things about, You have Gerrard, Carroll, Borini, Downing, Assaidi, who can all fit in there if things aren't working. You could go 2 up top with Carroll and Walcott, big man with pace alongside him. I do hope that if this transfer was to happen it wouldn't be at the expense of Carroll.
Here is an extract from the Oliver Kay (The Times) webchat: Would City go for both Walcott and Sinclair, or is the Sinclair move off meaning City would trump LFC move for Walcott? Sinclair deal isn't completely off. City aware of Walcott situation, bid for him may come low and late. They could go for both. What is the current situation regarding Carroll and whether LFC will find a replacement so late in the window? There have been no serious enquiries for Carroll since West Ham bid. Kay predicts Carroll will go - Newcastle and West Ham may both come back in for him. What is the latest on Clint Dempsey? LFC, Sunderland and possibly Arsenal are interested but value him differently to Fulham. He may patch things up or LFC will raise funds from Adam/Carroll etc which can make the difference. Where do you think Walcott will play after the window closes? No idea, I reckon City but I wouldn't bet on it. Transfers change all the time ...
Yeah I'm not sure why most of our fans would be against this, is it just in general or due to the wages? 70k a week would be the maximum for me but if BR thinks he is worth more than that then that would be fine with me, he has been strict on wages since he came here so I wouldn't question his judgement. Walcott would offer us something, he wouldn't just be some dud player imo
I'd really like this but at the same time, I would like to see him on the wing where he can fully utilise the space and his speed. Think he may be suffocated in the box ...
I agree - we need to remember that we're not in the Champions League so attracting players of Theo's experience and calibre is very difficult.
what about his injury problems.... he's an awful crock. if we get shut of joe cole and replace him with this guy i suppose we save 15k per week but end up wit hthe same issues.
Adding to Oliver Kay's webchat: - LFC are willing to let Joe Cole leave for free if someone will takeover his wages. - There is a good possibility that Affelay will play in England next season. Away from the webchat - Sky Sports have reported that Alan Pardew has admitted defeat in his efforts to re-sign Andy Carroll. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/8030970/Pardew-Carroll-deal-unlikely
I would rather we signed Sinclair off Swansea than Walcott. He is a better player imo and would cost half of what Walcott would.
Sorry for it being on picture form but here are some stats. Last years. Now stats smatz but they hardly scream the answer to our lack of goals in a front 3.
dull day for transfers, not even Twitter has anything to say. ****ing hope we can shift Adam and Cole before the window closes, even if we don't spend any more
Those stats say nothing about how successful the shots and crosses were. The fact that Downing is higher on a lot of them but got 0 goals and 0 assists shows him off as incredibly waist full. Important stats: Last season Walcott played 46 games in all competitions, scored 11 goals and assisted 13 goals. In total for Arsenal he has played 222 games, scored 42 goals and assisted 40 goals. He has 28 England caps and has scored 4 goals. He is only 23 and has his whole career ahead of him with plenty of time to further his playing ability. To those who say he is injury prone, over the last 3 seasons he has played 30 games, 38 games and 46 games. Those arnt that stats of an injury prone player. He also has great character and work ethic. He is a team player.
