Reinildo looks like he was signed by Motown in the 60's. Suave look.

I do however think there's a chance we won't see any incomings now until later in the window. They might see how the new guys get on in the first 3 games before assessing how best to use our remaining budget.

I still remain a little bit nervous about AFCON and squad depth. Speakman said we'd be buying enough depth to ensure its not a problem and we haven't yet

Agreed. If we have the funds I’d love the bigger money deal to be on a top quality winger. I like our current midfield 3 but without ELF we’ll need the front three to produce and I think with talbi/Mayenda it’s a lot to ask at their age.

You’d think we’ll get another winger though with the lauriente deal being so close, club must have it on their list you’d think.

Whats the latest with Bakwa sure I read somewhere that Forest had bid for him? I can see us spending big on a winger and a CB still.

Yeah Id say the winger depth has so be sorted. When AFCON rolls around we will have a barely fit Mundle and Roberts against some big sides

it’s not just AFCON for me. At the moment we’re gambling a bit on Talbi hitting the ground running. He may well do which would be awesome. He’s clearly got a tonne of potential. But he’s so young. I just feel we need more options on the wings for when they’re not firing.

Yeah a left footed, predominantly right sided winger would be my preference. Allows Talbi to be used on both sides.

Bakwa would be my choice if it's doable but I also wouldn't be against taking a swing at a 18-21 y/o at a lowish fee with a high upside.

Talbi the least likely of the SAFCON squad to be called up. Still probably will tho. He was called up to their most recent squad but missed with an injury. Uncapped but they’ve made a big push to get him to commit to Morocco instead of Belgium.

I guess we want a new winger to play predominantly left until Mundle is back from injury, but then predominantly right after he’s fit to potentially push Roberts out of the squad by January. Or you actually want two more wingers now and sell Roberts this window too. I wouldn’t mind seeing Isidor given a shot as sub/“finisher” left winger as he’s dangerous on the break and we’ve never really seen him good/bad he is defensively as a winger but he’s a grafter. Surely a right back would hate to see him coming on at 60-70 mins, but more so if we are winning.

Purely because you’ve said this, I’ve found this from ChatGPT. Really hope no one is sad enough to post this tomorrow as ITK. That includes you BBC Radio Newcastle.

    Patrick Wimmer
    • Age 24 years old
    • Height: 1.82 m (about 6’0”)
    • Nationality: Austrian (24 caps, 1 goal)
    • Current Club: VfL Wolfsburg (contract to 2027)
    • Market Value: ~€15 million
    • Primary Position: Right winger (also plays left wing and attacking midfield)
    Dribbling & 1v1 Ability
    • Aggressive in one-on-one situations, ranking around the 80th percentile in Bundesliga for both dribble attempts and success rate.
    • Prefers to commit defenders and open space for overlapping full-backs or cut-inside passes.

    Work Ethic & Defensive Contribution
    • Exceptionally high defensive work rate for a winger — in the 97th percentile for tackles and recoveries in the defensive third.
    • Effective in counter-pressing and tracking back quickly after turnovers.
    Offensive Output (2024–25 Bundesliga)
    • 29 appearances (1,691 minutes) — 3 goals, 4 assists.
    • ~0.18 goals and ~0.23 assists per 90 minutes.
    • Consistently among Wolfsburg’s leaders in successful dribbles per match.
    Strengths
    • Versatile — comfortable on either flank or as an attacking midfielder.
    • Delivers accurate, powerful crosses and dangerous cut-backs.
    • Good tactical discipline, making him reliable in both possession and defensive phases.
Suitability for Sunderland under Régis Le Bris
    • Pressing & Work Rate: Ideal for a high-press system — wins duels and disrupts build-up play.
    • Creative Drive: Can beat a man, deliver quality service, and link with attacking midfielders.
    • Balanced Profile: Combines attacking threat with defensive discipline, reducing risk of leaving full-backs exposed.
