Think it’s harsh to call him a relegation cert mind. The defence of Sheff U and Southampton were an absolute farce, so no wonder they went down.

Worth noting this Cutler is a very good goalkeeper coach. Could make Ramsdale concentrate more.

 

This is why I was disappointed in both of them saying no. It's not like there's a neverending list of available top keepers. At some point we'd have to start compromising.

 

Wouldn't be a huge outlay like Ramsdale though.

 

Tbf he'd be a pretty hefty outlay and arguably worse than patto.

There's compromising then there's looking at a keeper who can't concentrate for 90mins. I'd be baffled to be honest.

There's also a chance we had a list of 3 we were looking to target - Bulka, Petrovic and Perri and if now all three are off we are scrambling for options. May have just enquired on Ramsdale's price and thats been enough to get it leaked to talksport.

We may have heard the price and immediately ruled it out but too late - the media have it.

 

Of course we can be picky though, there are better keepers available for less. We won't compromise for ramsdale.

Not sure its as bad as you're making out tbh. I don't think he's going to sign but I don't think he gets to 187 PL appearances being as bad as you're suggesting.

So? If he was some disaster case who only concentrates for 70 minutes he doesn't stay for 2 full seasons as Arsenal's number 1. They wanted an upgrade when they went for the title. That's a different market to us.

He also doesn't stay all season as Southampton's keeper last season.

He's decent. Anyone saying otherwise is just disappointed we're not getting one of the elite, which I get. We were promised a world class keeper and instead we might just get a decent one.

 

Como are signing Perrone so we will have a free run at Rongier, personally I’d rather bring JH home on a free then spend €10M on him.

Ramsdale is a good keeper, better than Patto but has relegation attached to him. Can see why some would have reservations. Also I wouldn’t mind Johnstone, would be cheap and he provides good competition for Patto, as well as experience, and like I’ve said previously, I’m fine with Patto being no1 heading into the season.

Actually, while thinking while writing this, I think I’d prefer Johnstone to Ramsdale, not as a keeper, but for our squad configuration.

 

Of course but you could say the same for some of the players we’ve brung in. I’m sure there’s better players than Talbi available for less…

 

again just becuase they are linked doesnt necessary we are going to sign them,

the two keepers we were more heavily linked to were 2 of the highly rated keepers in Europe,

we will have something lined up,

that being said, I will talk to my mate at southampton to see what he knows

 

He could’ve said no to going to those teams to avoid having a relegation on his CV too, as a lot of players do.
