And this is how uncertain things can be.

A player might’ve just set their sights on the PL, or whatever, based on the slightest thing …

… it may be just because a countryman has signed or they watched Netflix.

Conversely they may have a wife who wants to pursue her own career, or their kids don’t want to learn English. Whatever the case we seem to have a club that’s looking after players and providing a good platform for them.

Bringing in players based primarily on money isn’t what we should be doing imo …

… and I don’t think we’re that kind of club anymore.

That would certainly help. However game time is always gonna be limited. Only 42k prem minutes available. The bigger the squad, the tougher it will be to keep them all happy. The way we talk on here, our first team squad is gonna be approaching 30!:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Yeah that's not too shabby is it.

    In my head it was;
LW: Lauriente, Mundle, Talbi (also in no order)

RW: New, Roberts, Talbi (in no order)

    ST: Mika, Mayenda, Isidor

But I would assume the other RW would be a loan as we have to manage finances across the whole squad.

Yeah, a high quality loan like Oscar Bobb or someone would be great. He can play as a 10 or either wing so there's plenty of scope for him to be in the team with any of the options already listed.

Who'd have thought we'd be in a position to discuss players like that a year ago. Loving it.

I appreciate that’s true of established premier league clubs but surely not from where we’re building?

As @Frazier the Lion says, we ideally need to get as much of our budget on the pitch with decent minutes as possible.

The club aren't thinking like we are, it honestly feels like we have skipped a season or two in progression the way we are going for it, but Talbi will get plenty minutes especially since he can cover both flanks imo

Oh definitely. However as of today we have 34 first team players on the books. 36 when Reinildo and Talbi are announced. If Temu Romano is correct we’ve got another 8-9 to land. We’ll need to shift almost 20 to get the number down to a sensible level.

I do think we'll see about 14/15 outgoings

But then a lot of players that have been on the bench and in squads can go back to the 21s or get loans too.

You can’t buy on that contingency basis though, you have to be smarter than that otherwise you might as well carry a squad of about 40.
Can’t recruit just to cover those four or so games during the AFCON either in my opinion. Can’t be that short termist.

This is why I think Lauriente will be the last winger to come in after Talbi myself

Going to be honest, I don't particularly like Lauriente + Talbi. It's fine but i'd rather Talbi + a left footed winger. I'd much rather Mundle as the only out and out left winger over Roberts being the only out and out right winger.

I don't think that's what it would be at all:
    - For me Roberts isn't of a standard to start games in the premier league but might have some impact off the bench.
    - We wouldn't be signing to cover for afcon as I think Talbi has been signed as depth on each side, a 5th winger would be to start on the right.
    - I believe when we found out Talbi would be available and willing to join we figured we are getting a player who can have an impact now but most importantly can be worth double or triple in a couple years time.

Yeah a good start. Tougher to pick the outgoings when we get into the teens though!

Anyways let's sort some actual wonderkids, I was an admirer or Gilberto Mora when he first broke through but I didn't expect him to be starting for Mexico at 16 and genuinely being the best player on the pitch in the concacaf semi final.

    We need the Mexican.

No you weren't dreaming, I read that as well. Great days ahead. We also have CMs who can cover the wings if needed, Lee Fee and Rigg in last season games
