Rumours are that this summer we will be back in the US in a 4 team tournament with Liverpool,Celtic and Roma. Games to be played in Boston,New York and either Pittsburgh or Philly. Has anyone heard anything?
Sounds good, better than playing eastern teams I've never heard of and winning 87-0! Bit of competitiveness in pre-season is perfect.
Celtic, Roma competitive ?????? Might as well play Sweffling United and Dagenham ( no offence to either ) Mind you, we may be doing that on a permanent basis if we don't get a decent striker, midfielder and right back !!!!
He's fine but can't do it without back up. By the way, not his best game tonight, however he spent half the game filling in holes that Cahill left.
We need Terry and Cahill at the back playing deep with Ivan and Cole pushing up. Luiz should be in defensive midfield for me, he plays well for large portions of games but ****s it up by giving it away/making a rash challenge at vital times.
He did make one error tonight, and was punished with a goal. But Ivan made more, Cahill was dire in his positioning, and Ivan and Luiz spent all night filling in the gaps he left. He needs more time to bed in as Luiz did . Cole was, well Cole. Watches fleet footed strikers streak around him these days, leaves CB's exposed, stops as if he's been shot at the 20 metre mark, passes backwards. Taxxxxiiiiii !!!!!!!!! Does a nice line in goal line clearances.
It's been confirmed that there are to be 3 games. Seattle,New York and Washington. Opponents and dates not yet available. http://www.chelseainamerica.com/web/
It's all about promoting the brand mate! I went to Chelsea V Club America at the new Cowboys stadium in Dallas a couple of years ago and there were around 70,000 there. Great night & what a stadium!
I went to Seattle 66k and Baltimore 71k on the last tour. Couldn't afford Texas too. Both were excellent trips. Baltimore was slightly better for the crack with other Chelsea fans but the Seattle crowd was excellent. This time I will do NY and DC.
This will be my 4th US Tour.....It helps having an American wife with friends and family to stay with
Before we got rich --the Blues close season touring was a bit more mundane! I remember being in a flat in Torquay once when the boys completed a tour of the West Country against Torquay United. They had already had a bit of tuning up against Exeter and Yeovil!! Those were the days!
Looks like it's Celtic in NY. They also mention a 4th game in Philadelphia. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/140046.html?CMP=OTC-RSS
So far Seattle is confirmed on July 18th as is AC Milan in Washington DC on 28th. That one's at FedEx Field and not DC Uniteds home of JFK Stadium. Strong rumors now that we will play Celtic at Yankee Stadium (Yep,a ball park). Also possibility of playing the MLS AllStar game in Philly.
Well, some last minute changes but we finally have the entire tour schedule. July 18th v Seattle at CenturyLink Field Seattle cap 67k July 22nd v PSG at Yankee Stadium New York cap 54k July 25th v MLS All Stars at PPL Park Philadelphia cap 18.5k July 28th v AC Milan at Sun Life Stadium Miami cap 75k Lots of miles to cover.
Found this very interesting. Some of the places we have been seem strange choices.Algeria and Mozambique!?!?!? http://www.chelseafc.com/page/Tour_News/0,,10268~2765171,00.html
