Mostly these are good contracts to be ending. A fair chunk of money being freed up there. I think Anita certainly did enough to merit a squad place and looked a solid player under Rafa in the Prem (at right-back admittedly). Gouff isn't a bad option off the bench, he'll run through a brick wall to try and get us into a game or see out time in a game depending on the circumstances. I'm willing to forgive him his limitations, not least as I'd prefer a team of below par players putting in every ounce of effort than a team of good players lounging about the pitch. Hands up those who thought Gosling would be a central player for a good Prem side or Simpson would win the league? We owe players faith if they are giving their all and i believe it rubs off on other squad members.
If there was any intention of trying to keep any of them, surely new contracts would have been offered by now. Their agents have been able to hawk them around since January, and there's a fair chance that most if not all, are already fixed up elsewhere for next season. Money in their pockets instead of transfer fees. 5 years and 4 1/2 years of Anita and Gouffran respectively is enough, especially on the best part of £100k a week between them. Offering new deals to this lot, stinks of mediocrity at best, but more like ineptitude on the part of Charnley and Co. Football clubs need turnover of players or they become stale.
All are pure ****e apart from Anita Anita was one of a very few who did ok last season and has done well this season. Not sure who people think we would bring in at RB but for me Anita should be RB next season. Long term wise, yes we want better, but then we want better than every single player we have. He is a mid table RB and atm we would be relegation favourites.
Another that regrettably needs to move on. In his mid 20s now and little chance of resurrecting his career here.
I agree but let's not forget maybe Anita does not want to stay to play rb when his preferred position is in midfield. I don't know. But yes the rest are clart. We need to turnover an insane amount of players and as early as possible to ensure they settle/knit in time for a hard season. It's not going to be pretty.
