So lads, looks like we're down. In the summer regardless if we manage to pull off a miracle or not we need a big clear out My question is who would you try to keep to build the team around next summer, mine is: (assuming we go down) Mannone, Colback, Brown, Bridcutt, Cattermole, Johnson (not gonna happen, I know), Wickham. + players like Watmore, Mavrias, Ba etc. Aside from those I don't think I'd blink an eye at anyone leaving. Years of poor business in the transfer market is sending us down. We need nearly a whole new squad cos' the current one is just poor and has no particular strength. We've got our new DoF, and he and Poyet need to set out targets that will suit Poyet's style. A couple years in the championship would do us good (not financially, but football wise)
Keep Mannone and Johnson (if possible). Ship the rest. Yes I`m pissed and yes I`m pissed off. Get rid of the whole f**king shower. For this I will apologise in advance, for the excuses we have for footballers I will not. They are a disgrace to the shirt.
Mannone Cattermole Johnson Fletcher Altidore Scocco will all be sold Oshea will be released (hopefully) Think we might hold onto Brown. Ustari Bardsley Dossena Alonso Vergini Gardner Ki Colback Larsson Borini Will all leave for free/return to parent club. That's 17 players out the door. A thread bare squad and a shoe string budget = Championship wildneress. I think we'll be down there for a few seasons at the least.
Defo don't expect us to come straight back up. It will do us some good to rebuild in the championship. Think we'll have a fair amount of dosh, certainly for championship level. We'll get quite large crowds for the championship and we have a billionaire owner
Keep Mannone and Johnson. (if poss). Buy Borini & Ki (if poss). The rest can all piss off. The dof & scouts do what they were brought in for.
We'd have a huge budget by Championship standards, and be a massive draw to players outside the league, I don't think we'd be stuck down there. Players like Ba, Mavrias, Mandron, well they may well be good enough at that level, as well as young lads like Laing. I don't fear staying down, to be honest, I think we'll be back up, but as we all know, once back up, investment is needed, and it looks like Short has pulled the plug on spending. We need an Arab or Russian, or energy drink company (ahem) to spend big.
Good point that GG all this fair play thing. A £200m gift would probably cover it. Come on Mr Short. Yes??
I don't think we'll go straight back up, which is fine, I just hope Short doesn't expect us to come straight back up if we do go down
If we do go it will be interesting to see the likes of Egan and Hardyman ect stepping into the first team picture.
All of them can go & hopfeully Poyet f**ks off to. Can't wait till the swansea game so I toss my season card at poyet. thank f**k I'm not renewing.
