In this world that we now live in with health and Safety, Political correctness and Human Rights. I said this a few seasons ago and it was debated on 5 live today. if a refferee makes a really bad mistake on the last day of the season which resulted in that clube being relegated "I said the day will come when a club will sue the refferee for loss of money" A lawyer said that at this moment refferee's are safe from anything like this happening. i find it hard that i am even writing this as im 56 and if you fell or cut yourself at work years ago it was put a plater on and get on with it. Im sorry but im old school and this modern culture drives me up the wall. Anyone agree.
Surely some form of contractual agreements, terms & conditions etc exist to prevent this happening? Mind you if it happened to my beloved club ad want the b*stard to get a good kickin
Does my tits in too, and I'm 22. I read a report not so long ago about kids at school getting compensation for playground trips and scrapes and falling off chairs! What people need to realise is that bad refereeing isn't a new thing...
Video technology will come in soon its bound to. As someone who played rugby league for years and still loves watching the super league video technology has been brilliant for the game. For those who don't know the difference between rugby league and union, league is a very fast following game, there are not the same stop starts like in union where kicks are taken for penalties. I would argue Rugby league is less stop start than football and the video ref works perfectly. IMO a manager should be given 2 challenges a game where he can go to the video ref for major incidents only. Goals, sending offs, incidents beyond the refs control (ie beach balls).
Fair enough sue the refs for crap decisions but, where does it stop can we all as Sunderland fans sue the club for not delivering on the pitch and, how many can sue the ref all 40 odd thousand of us? Agree with the technology and reckon vegas is onto something with the two calls per team also the ref should be able to call anytime he feels he may have missed something important.
ill give it 5 years before refs are sued, players are sued for causing injury, ect i really do expect it in the near future, with banks having clubs by the balls with debt and every penny counting.
What happened about that fella who was trying to sue the club after getting hit by a ball at the training ground?
News came out yesterday didn't it that the Football Association say they won't be able to test their vidoe tech as it can't be completed in time for the new season - that's 10 months away FFS! How can they possibly know this - seems to me like they are dragging their heels and don't want to implement it - thast's how it feels but I may be wrong
How about taking it a step further to try and stop the modern culture of diving to "win" a free kick or penalty. I suggest that if a player is penalized for diving then an FA panel should review the incident, then if any club is guilty, let's say 5 times, then they are deducted a point - I think that would soon stamp it out. The purists will say no but personally I think that seeing as the technology is here, why not use it, we see incidents every week that could be avoided by the use of it.
