Anyone still play? My 10 year old just got into it... Love it!!!! Pitch on a board in his room and all my old stuff out the loft. Nintendo? Bintendo! Flick to kick FTW
Not seen any of those little fella's for a long time. They still make them, or have you kept an old collection for the kid? (on a side note, do you know whats good for flattering the playing surface......a trouser press)
Loving the trouser press app! Kept some of my old ones for my boy. They don't make them as Subbutteo here anymore but there is an Italian company making an equivalent.
Good on you. A lot of the stuff the kids have nowadays lacks imagination, so something from the past gets my vote.
remember as a kid i had it laid out on the floor when we played and my mum always seemed to come in and manage to stand on the players and break them. Wouldnt have minded if it was the Man Utd players she stood on but oh no always the saints ones. They looked like they had just had an encounter with Jimmy Case.
When I was a kid I used to play with my uncle's old Subbuteo, loved it, he had loads of little teams to play with. Loved playing against his Coventry men cause I liked the kits
Maybe next season Kelvin can have a big stick in his back that the Northam and Chapel could use to control him. come to think of it even flicking a player onto a plastic ball in subbuteo that distribution was better than Kelvins..... only kidding top goalie!
Had it laid out on our dining table..had meals on our lap for most of one summer. Then he moved to computer games and I got my table back. Kept finding figures for years after all over the house.
I was at the tail end of subbuteo, fifa and all the other football computer games kinda wiped it off the map
Used to have wars every weekend with my brother and dad. None of us liked losing and as I was always using the Saints team loved it when we beat Pompey. Can still get old kits from Subbuteo world. Saints in 70's £20.
Loved it , still have it all boxed up in the loft, I was lucky enough to have the stadium and all the other bits including floodlights and scorebaords etc.....ah the memories I feel a game coming on!
I was just searching online and came across these brilliant reproduction Subbuteo teams of the great Saints XI from 1983/84, then I remembered this article. Apparently the artist can reproduce any team from every era to order. The miniature Dave Armstrong is my favourite, fantastic detail. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I used to play in a league when I was at school (the "West Andover Subbuteo League"). We all had pitches permanently laid down stuck to huge slabs of chipboard so you could set them up quickly. My team was called Mold Alexandra 'cos I liked the name (there used to be a real team called that in the Welsh League I think), but they played in the Southampton strip ( I had both home and away teams of course). Haven't played for donkeys years though
OMG ...... Come on Saints Alive.... show me the link! Gotta have that. David Armstrong figure is brilliant.
Armstrong figure looks brilliant although sadly everyone else looks the same and I don't recall Danny Wallace having a side parting
I use to score plenty against my brother using the goalie, if you caught it just right, you could chip it the length of the pitch over the whole defence. He'd go and tell my parents that I was cheating whenever i did it
call me anal if you like, but your brother was right. You have to be on or over the "scoring" line that is a third of the way down the pitch before you can shoot! You cheat!
