I don't think it's a dive, as Rodwell caught him a little bit with his trailing leg, but it was certainly an overreaction and barely a foul, let alone a red card.

For all their technical ability the south Americans are notorious for overreacting and cheating. The red card was a joke. It wasn't even a foul in my opinion - took ball completely and caught Suarez with his trailing leg which was bent so no chance of studs! If that is not allowed then football may as well be non contact!

    Liverpool fan in peace.

Wouldn't say it was a dive but it wasn't a red card. A yellow at a push but probably just a free-kick. Poor decision in my opinion.

Suarez on his day can be a pleasure to watch but at times he can be the most annoying player in the premiership.

I haven't seen the challange yet but seeing him in the past for both Liverpool and Ajax i dare say there was a lot of over the top play acting.

Second goal looks like a foul to me, too.
Clear two-handed push in the back on Baines, who barrels into Distin, which seems to have gone unnoticed, for some reason.

There does seem to be an unnecessary jump in the air by Suarez right at the end there. Because its not certain what his motives were (there is a chance he was trying to avoid injury after all), we must give him the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise we might conclude he was trying to make the situation worse than it was (which as we've seen wasn't much anyway). The rolling around dying bit afterward does not support the case that he was only getting out of the way, and clearly since he played the rest of the game unimpaired he wasn't actually injured. Starting to think Suarez nowhere near as good as he seemed at the end of last season. Will FA have the guts to rescind the red card? They have a habit of sticking with the refs decision in a near psychotic show of support sometimes that doesn't benefit anyone.

Anyone else think that Liverpool get more than their share of luck? No idea if that works out statistically, I might simply just be only noticing when things go right for them.

Also thinking the Toon are being quite lucky at the moment. Also haven't played ManU, ManC etc. Amazing how the pundits will build up how good they are (even though they were very lucky yesterday for example), and then when the results become as you would have expected, the headlines will be 'how did it all go so wrong'.

You can see why it was given, Rodwells left foot is studs showing, had there been a standing foot there the leg would have gone, its dangerous.

A boot in contact with a shin! Generally the shin comes of worse. I don't remember a case where somebody attacking someone with a kick to the leg actually come off worse than the person thay have kicked.

"Your honour I was just giving him a kick! his leg stopped my boot causing huge pain to my foot." Not Guilty; the leg was clearly in the way of the free swing of the boot.<laugh>

I agree 100% that contact is minimal and exaggerated, but thats not the only reason a Red Card is based on, if the ref 'interprets' it as dangerous foul play with intent, and when studs are up, thats how some refs see it.

Suarez is a habitual diver and cheat, and he is everything that is wrong with the modern footballer..... diving, moaning at referees, waving imaginary cards to get opponents booked etc.

He does have ability but is quickly becoming the most hated player in the Premier League (due to his bad attitude, diving and over reactions), and I`m glad he isnt associated with Spurs. I would like to see Referees clamp down on his play acting but we all know it wont happen because he plays for Liverpool.

Also, Suarez needs to find himself a good dentist asap..... surely he can afford it. He reminds me of a bad Freddie Mercury.

Imo the first goal was a foul on baines. Carroll just shoves baines out of the way to make space. As for the red card...shambolic, not a foul, suarez has half a second to jump over the tackle he decides to stay routed and go down like he was shot. The penalty was a penalty, but when you see it happen its a question of a trip, watch suarez clump together like his leg has been taken off. What a cheat. I can't say I was be too sad if someone really injured suarez for a change in a tackle. He's asking for it, riding them out to win penalties and cards.

Less an infatuation, more a result of the high proportion of pundits that used to play for them and the inevitible bias that stems from it. But for some reason, Jack Wilshere doesn't Tweet about that after a loss...
