PUNISHMENTS – Relating to First Team Competitive Matches (a) CAUTIONS ADMINISTERED ON THE FIELD OF PLAY (i) If a Player accumulates fi ve cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and 31 December (including any FTCM played on that day) in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - One First Team Match (ii) If a Player accumulates five cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Warned as to his Future Conduct” (iii) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of receiving fi ve cautions and then proceeds to receive a further fi ve cautions during the same Season, will be subject to the following punishments: - (iv) If a Player accumulates ten cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering:- Two First Team matches If in the fi nal match before the second Sunday of April a player accumulates his tenth caution in FTCM since the opening day of the Playing season and then receives a second caution in the same match and consequently is dismissed, the player will be suspended automatically for a period covering Two First Team Matches. This two match suspension will automatically apply in such cases, instead of the one match automatic suspension which would otherwise apply to a player who is sent of for receiving two cautions in the same match. (v) If a Player accumulates ten cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Severely Censured and Warned as to his future Conduct” (vi) If a Player accumulates 15 cautions in FTCM between the opening date of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - Three First Team matches (vii) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of receiving fi ve, ten and 15 cautions, and who goes on to receive 20 cautions in FTCM in the same Season, shall be required to attend a meeting of a Regulatory Commission, within seven days of the date of the last caution. The Members of a Regulatory Commission will have the power to deal with the Player in such manner as they deem fi t. The same procedure will apply for every further fi ve cautions received by that Player.DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES 373 (viii) Any period of suspension arising from cautions will commence forthwith. The suspension will cover all approved First Team matches until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment in approved Competitions during the period covered by its opening league match and ending with the fi nal match in which the Club is playing in an approved domestic Competition. (ix) Any period of suspension or part thereof which remains outstanding at the end of a Season must be served at the commencement of the next following Season. (b) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (7) Subject to the provision of 8(a)(iv) above, player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for receiving a second caution in the same match will be suspended automatically from FTCM forthwith until his Club’s First Team has completed its next FTCM. (c) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (4) and (5) A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for denying a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by physical means or by handling the ball, will be suspended automatically from FTCM commencing forthwith, until such time as his Club has completed its next FTCM. (d) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (6) A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for using of ensive or insulting or abusive language/gestures, whether he has previously been cautioned in the match or not, will be suspended automatically from FTCM commencing forthwith, and until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed its next two FTCM. (e) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (1), (2) AND (3) A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for Violent Conduct, Serious Foul Play or spitting at an opponent or any other person, whether he has previously been cautioned in the match or not, will be suspended automatically from all Club football, except for any match sanctioned or regarded by The Football Association as a Friendly Match, including non-First Team matches commencing forthwith and until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed its next three matches in approved Competitions. Therefore if I am interpreting the rules correctly, I believe that Stuart Nelson is subject to just a one match ban, that being against Preston in the FA Cup next Saturday.
Going back and just a reminder about my original comment, quote: 'subject to various other conditions' One of which I believe might be that IF we appealed this red as we are entitled to do so, then IF we lost any appeal, might possibly mean he would miss a league game rather than a cup game through any such appeal delay. I do not know what the time scales are on all this stuff, without reading through the rules again! - lol
Lets not get too worried about the Nelson's ban, Forecast looked a competent replacement for the short ime he was on the pitch
I don't think we can appeal that as I think it is a red from seeing it, he stopped a goal scoring opportunity.
The Southampton fans seem to think that the Preston match is now going to end up more like a rugby score with Forecast in goal

If Forecast really is as suspect as we are being told, why risk undermining the confidence of the defence as a whole by getting a hiding at PNE? I know we are indifferent about the Cup but confidence could be damaged beyond one game. Flitney was very sound last year even if he did play on too long after his injury. He is unlikely to displace Nelson who has been first class but better keep the experience within the permanent squad than give it to the guy who will soon be cleaning Gazzanigga's boots.
Either way, Flitney has been out on loan whilst Forecast has been number two. It would be both professionally and morally wrong to put Flitney in ahead of Forecast. This is his chance and the outcome cannot hurt us in the league.... a win win situation for the club.

I am not sure your idea would work either, by bringing back Flitney and putting him straight into the starting eleven would send a clear signal to Forecast that he isn't in the managers plans, which would be pretty insulting for the lad and may cause discord in the playing staff. But the simple fact that it is Forecast warming the bench while Flitney is playing non league football it should be obviously who lies where in the pecking order under Allen

BSG You have your arguments back to front. The choice lies between the fourth choice Southampton keeper (Forecast) and Gills second choice goalie (Flitney) who, unfortunately was unfit at the start of the season which is why we ended up with Forecast on loan. There is no pecking order in favour of Forecast and all aspects of loyalty rest with Flitney who is at Eastleigh to gain match practice which is not available at Gillingham. In terms of record at this level Flitney is proven and competent whereas Forecast is, at best, unknown. 12 months ago we were all talking of Flitney as the early runner as player of the season although after his injury and the rise of the exceptional Gazzaniga many people's memory faded. Nelson is a clear first choice (even though the Exeter game illustrated shortcomings with crosses that we had not seen before) but Flitney is an extremely competent deputy. I see no argument at all favouring Forecast, giving him a game only helps Southampton.
Absolutely spot on Bristol. I think MA maybe does not like what he sees in training with Forecast which is why he has brought Flitney back. He had no reason to bring him back unless he intends to play him because a keeper on the bench doesn't have to come on very often, so Darren Hawkes could easily be on the bench at Preston
