At least we have rectified one shortcoming from last season. Provided we get Giroud it will leave us with Giroud, Rvp, podolski and Campbell, who looks likely to get his work permit after playing a fair few international games and scoring 4 in his last six including this one from a couple of days back

With regard to Rvp I'm more confident he will stay than previously but what juventus seem to be doing surely amounts to tapping up with sending nedved to speak to him. IMO that leaves us with getting an attacking midfielder, a back up goalie and M'vila to be completed. I don't think defence is a priority tbh though that's debatable. At any rate we seem to be on the right track. The only ting that worries me is that the likes of Chelsea and Manu are strengthening by an incredible amount though at least on a financial level it's not really possible to compete with them.

only ppl reporting the nedved story are the metro. and tapping up is so common these days that fifa and uefa just ignore it (although i think thats because they don't want to be seen to have double standards after barca did it).

good set of strikers. if we keep with three up front, we have RVP, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud, Campbell, Chamberlain, Gervinho, Miyaichi and countless other youngsters for those three spots. enough strength in depth to challenge on multiple fronts i think. now we just need to strengthen the midfield

A good set of strikers, but you can't really include Campbell in that because I don't think he's anywhere near ready to start properly contributing to this team. But the rest are all fully capable, so we have pretty much solidified that area already (if RVP stays). I think it's unlikely we'll pay a lot for an attacking midfielder because Wenger loves Rosicky and Ramsey (and Wilshere will be returning hopefully) so will probably go for a cheaper option such as Yossi Benayoun to give some more depth. As the days go by I become more and more unsure of the M'Vila transfer going through, so we'll probably end up signing either nobody or, again, another cheap player to probably sit behind Song in the pecking order.

I disagree with you though CB about defenders. If Djourou goes and Squillaci should go, then we definitely need to bring in someone else otherwise we'll have no depth at all and with Mertesacker coming off a season-ending injury and Verm being prone to an injury or two, then we'll be stuffed. Unless you think Miquel is ready? Which judging by his performances last season would suggest otherwise.

well you have to consider we do need depth and not many strikers will be willing to play second fiddle so it will have to be a youth/reserve player. With regard to defence its not a given that djorou will leave. If he does i'm not sure whether to give bartley a chance or not. Agreed he hasn't been given good feed back from rangers supporters but hes mainly been played at right back or defensive midfield. I'll leave that to the mangement to decide but if they do not deem him ready i would get another player.

Juventus can tap him up as much as they like. The chances of RVP going to them are more laughable than John Terry's wedding vows.

We need to accommodate the players we have, if the 4-3-3 formation doesn't suit then change it, simple. You MUST play RVP. If you buy Giroud you MUST play him. You bought Podolski early doors so that suggests he will be playing.

I see plenty of squad rotation taking place this season which is good, it doesn't have to be the same players playing the same tactics over and over. Sometimes we will need a physical edge in games, sometimes we will want to exploit space with pace, with Walcott and OXO we have pace in abundance, Giroud and Pod add physicality.

Giroud would be a good addition. A midfield of Wilshere, Rosicky, Arteta and Song bolstered by either Capoue or M'Villa gives us a few options - I'd play Wilshere purely offensively - he wouldn't be needed to sit as much as he did previously.
