Gayle on his own..or him with Mitro or Murphy? I suspect Rafa will go one up front but which of the two would you play along side him?
I'd stick with Diame off Gayle as both have been doing well and are match fit. Mitro looked poor midweek and understandably lacking sharpness and match fitness. If I had to choose between Mitro and Murphy this weekend, I'd probably go Murphy for that reason. However, Mitro would be my choice out of the two once he's up to speed.
I'd play Mitro. He isn't going to get match fitness by sitting on the bench. Other than being forced to sit out the last game as a precaution he isn't coming back from an injury and needs to eased back in in that sense so get him on the pitch. We have missed having a big lad up front and it would be good to see how he does up there with Gayle playing in behind him. I think if they play to a specific game plan it could be reminiscent of the Shearer/Bellamy combo (except not as good). Murphy isn't in Mitro's league so him starting is not even up for debate for me.
Much as we all love our Mitro, he's just come back from concussion, and is still settling into this league in terms of getting used to the physicality and getting his temperament in check. Murphy is a proven scorer at this level, so for me is the natural choice to start at the moment, with Mitro coming on later as sub.
Start with Mitro and Diame just behind him, let him tire out the defenders but pushing them about and challenging them for everything. Then look to change it depending on how the game is going
I resent that! but with decent wingers in the squad, I dont see why we dont utilise it. I'm sick of watching us cross the ball to 5ft7 midgets! It's not just open play crosses, but corners, free kicks and defensive set pieces. Im not saying play like that the whole 90 mins, but we have the ability to chop and change our style of play and I like options.
Good point (gayle with Mitro ..on for 60 mins tops ..then the Murph) (Though Rafa will play with only one up top) That's a bit mean ...fair ...but mean
Personally, I would go for Scargill to start the game with Derek Robinson playing behind him and then late on in the game look to bring on Ernest Bevin. There's one for Google for the younger kids on here.
Clem Atlee .. the best manager we never had (and he would have guided us to the World Cup in Mexico, given the chance) I always fancied signing Ramsey MacDonald, but, realistically, he wouldn't have been able to displace Enoch Powell on the right wing
