Thats crazy. Give Gulacsi a chance. So much knee jerk reactions. Good job Ayala went to Norwich as he had a shocker on his sub-debut yesterday. :embarrassed: Left Kenwyn Jones who nipped in to get the equaliser. Just imagine if Ayala had done that here ? <wah><wah>

I know what you're saying, but neither of the players you mention have put a foot wrong yet, but everyone is jumping on their backs. McKenna has been solid in the middle every game and Dele has hardly played, but looked quite a handful when he's come on.

On the topic of OAPs, does no one remember when we got promoted and we had Windass, Okocha, Hughes, Brown and Pedersen?

Be honest, is it really? We were excited about new players coming in a few months ago, and it turned out to be Dele Adebola, who we'd all laughed at and said "oh no, it won't be him" and Paul McKenna, along with Corry Evans whose form has turned to **** and some other inexperienced kids using us some kind of test Guinea Pig.

Hughes, Pedersen and Brown are still younger than Adebola now, they were in their early 30's when we got promoted.

The management team identify targets, they give the details to AP, he checks the costs and goes to the Allam's, the Allam's say it's too much, AP goes back to NP and he finds someone cheaper, then it all starts all over again. <whistle>

Artistic license apart, that is roughly how I think things go and as far as I know, AP does the purchase/loan and player contract negotiations.

Windass had just kept us up, Okocha had played in 3 of the best leagues in the world and was - nay, IS - one of the greatest African players of all time, Brown and Hughes were only 30 and 31 and Pedersen was a proven top flight player who happened to have some gas left in the tank.

It's exciting whilst it's still a mystery. That could, of course, vanish quickly once the players are revealed.

    Nevertheless, excitement it is.

It won't be exciting unless the players are good in my opinion.

If it comes to getting a goal keeper maybe AP will let us have one of his players.
They can at least catch the ball, should be easier if the ball is round instead of egg shaped.

You have to be joking? McKenna has been as dire as the rest so far. He at least looks for a forward pass, unlike the rest, but he can never pull it off. <grr>

And as for Adebola, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he received the ball in the box on Saturday, in the 89th minute, and tried to skin 2 defenders. He's a poor player and WELL past his best.

Cheers. Football finance never ceases to amaze me.

The chairman has to have so much faith in people down the line. I can't imagine if I'd made a fortune off my own sweat, gambling it on the word of a director of football's opinion of the judgement of a manager based on the word of a scout. A decision that could leave a player better off than some chairmen.

The chairman approving some deals must have considered hard if they realised that they were paying twice as much for one footballer as the world thought was enough to bring in Osama Bin Laden.

Interesting to note that, despite their wealth, so few footballers become chairmen.
