Skysports.com understands Stoke are weighing up a move for Bolton defender Paul Robinson in the January transfer window.

The experienced left-back is out of contract at the end of the season and it is believed Bolton are willing to let him move on in January.

The no-nonsense defender has established himself as a key member of the Bolton side since arriving in the summer of 2009, but The Trotters are ready to cash-in in January rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

This news has alerted a host of clubs to Robinson's availability when the transfer window opens next month, with the full-back a seasoned Premier League campaigner having made over 500 appearances in his career with Watford, West Brom and Bolton.

Stoke are thought to be tracking Robinson as Tony Pulis looks to add to his left-back options.

Left-back has been a problematic position for Stoke this season and tough-tackling Robinson could help fill the void.

He is old, slow, low skilled and about as forward thinking as a can of Spam! I would rather have Crusoe!

My view of Robinson is simple...
The guy is a total ******* lunatic I remember him from his West Brom days. He's slow, old as said above and I say FORGET IT.
He reminds me of that former Stoke player. Danny Tiatto. We gave him the name of "Tasmanian Devil"
He's a full back and Bolton are where exactly? TONY don't do it!

There's no point in buying someone who is worse than those we already have. The only thing going in his favour is that he is a left back, so he would be playing in his natural position which is more than can be said for Wilson. However, as Wilson isn't doing too bad, I wouldn't change him for Robinson.
Surely there must be some young promising left back in the Championship who is worth a punt?

Apparently Wayne Bridge is up for transfer. I wouldn't say no, provided it wouldn't break the bank.

Bridge is not interested in football anymore, and if you saw him at west ham last season you would know to stay clear of him. Robinson is terrible also.

What total rubbish. Pulis interested in a natural full back? No chance.

I see we got linked with Hoilett again in the Racist Rag. It was saying something about selling Pennant and getting Hoilett as a replacement.
