Very tough game at home, see palace coming to defend and hope to catch us on the break. We will still go through though, Bluebirds

should have won this game against a team that could not name a side due to illness in there ranks, very surprised you lost. its only half time so plenty of work to do because if they get a goal at legoland then i cant see you going through....

Will Malky stick with Heaton in goal after that? Palace have now been given clear evidence of a weakness we all knew about, so I can only pray that Malky swallows his pride and puts Marshall in.

Don't really get why MM changed Marshall, although Heaton had done ok up until the goal. Was a shame as it was the only mistake of the game. All to play for mind, but agree Dai, need to keep a clean sheet

MM played Heaton cause he's featured in all the Carling Cup Games! Hopefully MM would of strengthened by the return leg as well!

Get the first goal in the first hour and get the ground totally rocking and Bluebirds will make it through. If Palace score first I think they will hold out.

Lateboy - my point was, why did MM pick Heaton (who let in 4 against West Brom) over Marshall. If he was playing his strongest team, as suggested by the WBA game, surely Marshall should have been between the sticks. Wasn't knocking, Heaton as I said I thought he did ok up till the goal

    What game was you watching??

Was a good game, you started brightly but we soon got into the game and the 1-0 result was fair in my opinion.

You guys have to go for the win now, so will be interesting to see if you can get the break through or we could catch you on the counter.

Very much looking forward to the 24th

    Bright_Wright!

Your boys did well at the back last night and frustrated us by shear numbers. We dominated the game throughout but your counter attacking pace caused our defence a tough time.Your biggest threat was the lad Zaha.Got to be honest that boy is a real talent and you'll do well to hold on to him in the January window. If Malky can find a way to nullify Zaha in the replay, assuming he's still with you, your attacking options become very limited. The true score was 1 - 1 but for a poor decision by the ref who up until then had had a good game in fairness.Cracking cup tie though.

By the way is HAND BALL a Palace chant?

    Ammended:
Yep just checked back and it was your lot down our place who kept appealing for handball. In the last 10-15 minutes City fans were shouting handball every time a player touched the ball.

Don't think a Palace goal would be fatal at all.
We'd expect to beat them 2-1 or better if they scored first against us in any normal game. It's obviously preferable to score first but there's no need to panic if they do.
Fair play to Palace though, after a poor start they upped the work rate and closed us down very effectively. They did get the rub of the green on the night and we should have come away with a draw. Zaha has justed signed a new contract so I'd be pretty confident he'll still be there for the return.

Had a great night even though the London traffic was typically rubbish and we lost! The atmosphere was brilliant in the away end, the CCS should be bouncing in 2 weeks, I can't wait.

Stevo - 2-1 would be no good if it finished like that after extra time - we'd be out.

Agree though, whenever (if) they score at the CCS, we are more than capable of replying in kind - just hope that lack of an away goal last night doesn't cost us.

Sparkey I think the point he was making is that it's only half time, and we should expect to score 2 to win the game in a normal match (ie go through in this semi 2-1 on aggregate)

Didn't read it that way passive mate. I realise it's only half time, but Stevo said "We'd expect to beat them 2-1 or better if they scored first against us in any normal game. It's obviously preferable to score first but there's no need to panic if they do".

That suggests he was talking exclusively about the upcoming game, nothing to do with last night. No sweat either way. <ok>
