    He must have the record as Captain as well and will be only 6 caps from being the most capped British player of all time ahead of another Saint, Peter Shilton.

    That excellent video shows the journey he has been on, but its an absolute Saints blast from the past as well.

    After he scored twice at Tottenham he went from very good player to legend for me!

    Lovely player to watch and in interviews came across as a decent bloke. Thoroughly deserves accolades

    A Steven Davis love fest? I'm in. How much did we pay for him? Less than a million quid I believe - and he repaid that over and over again.

    Always made himself available for the pass and was always head up and looking for the next move. Fantastic player.

    As we were reminded in that excellent tribute video, we didn’t have to pay Rangers anything for him as his contract was rescinded by their bankruptcy, but he insisted that we paid them something. From memory it was just under £1 million.

    And then he became an instant Saints legend by scoring on his debut at the Etihad. Fairy tale stuff. What a player, what a man. :emoticon-0152-heart

    Model pro and underappreciated by neutrals who thought he was just a workhorse. Davo could play.

    Will always think fondly of him. Crazy to think he was here for so long!

    What a signing he was! One of our best PL signings ever. Insane value for money.

    The “discussions” that used to happen in here about him. A lot of fans on this board underrated him. Quietly went about his job. Nothing flashy but so important to that team.

    I think I used to describe him as a conduit, a player that linked the play superbly and could read the game so well.
