Was only joking with my post DJ. If we do get this lad it certainly will be a feather in MM cap thats for sure, however the silly season is peaking and the gutter press having a field day with who's going where. Anyway on a side not that Hong Kong film star looked the business in the Echo this morning !!

Apparently he is having a medical with you guys today, believed to be more than the 8.5m spent on Cornelius, if you do land him that side of 10m its a short term, and def long term bargain, one of the best defenders i have seen.

    i.e I am gutted! :p

Well I don't understand Laudrup and Jenkins, if kairdiff do get Caulker, he must have been primed for a move, and we must have been alerted, so clearly we didn't want him back which I find incredible, but maybe he wouldn't get the game time now with Chico here, but one thing is for sure, I know a liverpool man that would be very interested in him!!..................... <ok>

    Cheers Hilts

When it's confirmed on City's site I will be very happy.

Still need that defensive mid fielder though.

    How deep are VT's pockets?

You were interested in Tom Ince. However once we came in you didnt have the financial weight behind you to compete.

Your policy is cheap wages on mostly unheard of foreign players.

Something your club has been highly successful with.

If Caulker is coming then I doubt you could come close to matching what we will be offering.

    Money talks.

Spot on imo. How it'll work out for both of us time will tell. This would be a fantastic signing though.

I beg to differ. Just because they are unheard of here does not mean they are unheard of in their own country. Hernandez is a massive name in Spain. Hes a spanish international who was playing for valencia in the champions league. Michu was the highest scoring midfielder in la liga. Chico was apart of the 3rd best defence in la liga behind barca and RM. Bony is one of the most prolific players in Europe and De Guzman is a holland international. Then there is vorm who is number 2 in holland to Bayern Munich's keeper.
There is no way we are paying these players cheap wages. As for competing financially, weve spent 37m in the last 2 seasons.

Money talks, and we have made plenty of it.
    Again, hardly no financial weight...

    Hilts,
Claims from twitter that Spurs are trying to insert a buy back clause, which would mean it was just a glorified loan.

Was Vorm number 2 before he came to you (and was outstanding tbf)?

De Guzman is on loan. I agree that Hernadez is/was a house hold name but possibly his star was in decline.

Michu was dayllight robbery and god knows how you snuck him in for 2 mill but fair play! The fee suggests the wages may not have been that high in the initial deal.

This year has shown a change of attitude, but I'm not sure you're a club that can pluck 10mill out of the air to sign a CB you don't really need and neither are Brenda's new employers right now having wasted their fortune.

I would suggest that would be if we're relegated and they have first dibs.

Cheap is probably the wrong word with todays wages.

I doubt you would pay a player over £50k a week.

Rightly or probably wrongly im sure we would and if we are convincing Caulker to leave Spurs then I expect him to come into that bracket.

If im wrong of course then you may come in with your own offer.

Id be happy with Leon Barnett for £500k.

Is Caulker that much better than Barnett?

From what I have seen Hilts, yes, a better pedigree with international experience and much younger (Barnett is 28 this year) so a better long term prospect.

I saw in today's Daily Mail that Wigan are in for Barnett at £500k. I must admit though I would have jumped at that deal until the Caulker thing came along. Malky must see something in Barnett that says good Championship player but doubts over Prem ability and no better than what we have.

If the buy back clause is on relegation then that is almost a win/win as long as they give us back most of what we spend on him.
