He's inherited a ****e Allardyce team but at least Allardyce kept them safe every season, there's enough talent in that squad to stay up, Wigan and West Ham have survived in the past with one good player (N'Zogbia, Parker) and Blackburn have Hoilett, Dann, Samba, Yakubu (7 goals in 10 games?), Rochina, Pedersen who are all decent enough.

I might be wrong but I'm sure he signed Vuckevic, Formica, Yakubu, Dann and Rochina.

I agree with a lot of posts here. I think it's a melange of factors and not just Steve Kean.

As Newcastle fans we can empathise with their supporters frustrations- it wasn't so long ago we were in their shoes. However I think there is a time and a place for protests and banners- not when your team is playing and needs your full support- especially in a derby.

The squad- yes, the squad is somewhat depleted, and defence looks awful with players missing. He has a few gems in there like Hoilett and Rochina, also Yakubu has been a revelation and if anything is going to get Blackburn out of this mess it will be his goals! But in general, it's a ****e squad who looked like they couldn't have given two ****s about the cause in the first 45 minutes yesterday! Remind you of a familiar squad from a few years back?...

Steve Kean- I have to hand it to the guy, he's not walking away from this one. Although his attitude is a tad selfish, it's clearly not working mate! I recon his mentality is to prove that he can cope with the hard times of football and come out on top, thus making himself still seem employable to other clubs when he does eventually leave Blackburn (god knows when that will actually be?!..) but ironically it's having an adverse effect, who on earth would even consider hiring Kean after all this?

Venky's- these guys are the real problem. Even if Kean goes, these guys are still in charge. They seem clueless about modern day football club ownership. In this day and age you need to spend money even to just stay in the league. They need to make a decision, and either one will cost them a lot of money; you either sack Kean, tempt a new guy in with the promised funds for new players to help rebuild this squad. Or you either stick with Kean and give him funds for players to help his lackluster squad and hope that he really is the right man for the job.

Would hate to be a Blackburn fan right about now- makes you appreciate how much better things are for us nowadays!

Ok, so he's signed a spanish player who is 20 and has represented Spain at various age groups... He has signed a solid premier league proven centre-back in Scott Dann... A 22/23 year old Formica who has represented Argentina, and a man who is on top goal scoring form in the Yack... Vuckevic is the only one anybody could point to as a disappointment.

He's had incredibly little to spend, and he's being undone by the crap that's been left to him... It's not even remotely his team, same as you wouldn't call our team presently Pardew's creation...

Steve Kean is an odious man.

I would have some sympathy for him if he at any point had acted apologetic towards the fans, and accepted reality. The fact that he still thinks his squad can achieve the top 10 says it all. Pillock and he deserves all he gets, except the money for being sacked.

This!

The fact is Blackburn will be bottom at Christmas means History is against them (only West Brom in 04/05 have managed to survive in this situation) yeah they might only be 4/5 points from safety but there so much compition. I see Blackburn very similar to West Ham last season and if the board stick with Kean like West Ham did with Avram history will repeat its self no doubt. But as said before you dont know what the venky's will do, probly have a football manager compition and hire who evers the best at it <doh>

I understand you're clearly a Kean sympathiser, but as tomtom94 points out, the guy is clearly delusional. He has shown no signs that he can be a good manager at all, and if it's the same team that Allardyce left, this time last year Allardyce had them 11 points better off than they are now. Kean has taken them backwards, therefore surely some of the blame must fall at his feet?

If we're saying Kean still has Allardyce's team, then Allardyce got the best out of that team. The squad imo still has enough quality to avoid relegation - Yakubu, Dann, Rochina, Pedersen, Samba, Robinson, Formica, Hoilett - these are all decent players, and yet they look absolutely clueless out on the pitch, so tactically unaware of what they are doing. This has to fall at the feet of the manager.

Fair enough, their attitude should be "lets do this for the fans" but if the manager is as clueless as Kean is, and they sense the sheer hostility raining down on the manager from the fans, why are they going to play for him? They will all be ****-scared of making a clever pass incase it doesn't come off. The confidence must be so low, and the manager is supposed to be the one that picks them up. Kean is clearly not doing that, and his sheer unacceptance to shoulder any of the blame is really pissing me off.

Fair enough but he could've used what little money he had to sign better players in my opinion.

Tactically inept, the bloke is clueless. It is not going to help his cause flying to India every week, I mean what’s the point in that, have they not heard of video conferencing??? All that said, it is the nature of the job if he is not winning (7 wins all year, yes year not season) he will not get the backing from the fans.
Blackburn have enough of a squad with some decent players (2 coming to us I hope) to stay in the division. Sadly these players need to perform for the man in charge, if they are not doing then there is only one outcome.

I think he would walk out tbh but he would have to lose out on any money leaving him and his family in a dodgy position as after the job he's done at blackburn who is going to want him. He is tactically inept. The way they defend not just yday but all season shows this. Samba and Dann at SJP were dreadful

Few things

1) Blackburn fans are acting ridiculously, they were booing and shouting Kean out before the Arsenal game when they beat them, and they are letting their protests affect the team. Ultimately - protest against the manager, but make sure you support the team on the pitch, that;s the job of a fan.

2) Why should Kean walk away? He's contracted to do the job to the best of his ability, it's not his fault if his ability is limited or he is working under very difficult conditions. Ultimately, he's trying to fulfil his contract which is what every person should do.

3) I actually quite enjoy watching blackburn games these days, they're usually high scoring, high drama games (lots of 4-3s, 3-3s etc), and that's entertaining! Makes a nice change from Allardyce football.

4) I hope Blackburn DO get rid of Kean, but then go down anyway to show the fans what pricks they're being.

I think the debate on this will ultimately be settled by the end of the season.....

it's a bit silly to say "look where Sam had them"... ok, i that is your view, look at where Coyle had Bolton, this years man must surely be an imposter then?

Just think as an assistant coming in, he was on a hiding to nothing...

With Bolton, they've just been unlucky and lost a lot of quality. They had Sturridge last season who is class and havent adequately replaced him, they had Elmander who scored a fair few for them and he hasnt been replaced properly either. They also had two players break their legs in pre season (Mears and Lee Chung Yong).

No didn't watch, sounds good though. If they had those three then they'd be fine imo.

That is the mark of a player who loves the club he plays for. I bet the fans sitting next to him couldn't believe it. Holden has a lot of respect from me for that (I liked him before anyway)

Its all very well booing him, they pay good money to be there I bet, and infact indirectly pay his wages..

But I felt last night did go slightly to far. After they went 1-0 down after 5 minutes, it basically become the Steve Kean witch hunt. The players are the ones kicking the ball they should be able to motivate themselves!

I noticed at one point David Dunn passed a quite accurate ball to Yakubu, with which Yakubu couldn't be arsed sticking his foot out and the ball rolled by him, he then spent the next 5 minutes shouting at David Dunn saying how crap the ball was, and by lip reading I'm sure he kept telling him to **** off, may show why they are doing so bad.

They are all just blaming each other, if the players own comfy job were on the line, they'd soon be mid-table!

Obviously you didn't watch the game, as Kevin Davies was an unused sub. Mark Davies was on the wing.
