I'm gutted, because I wanted to see him become a top defender, and eventually be a mainstay in the England squad. I really do think moving to Cardiff City could damage his career. Aside from Caulker, they've spent poorly, and I tip them for relegation next season.
Caulker might keep them up but it is/was a bad move for him there surely would have been better options for him if other clubs knew he was for sale I think Spurs have screwed the pooch on this one can't see Bale being willing to stay now.
Non now lads, don't be so dissmissive of Cardiff this season. Honest opinions are fine, but don't let them be tainted by grapes of the sour kind. You may believe that Cardiff will struggle in the top tier, and you'd not be alone amongst visitors to our own forum expressing the same thoughts. Yet there is no justification to think we will be any worse than those that came up with us, nor those that just escaped the drop from the Prem last season. With £8M already spent on Cornelius, a couple more on Brayford, and then another 8 mill yesterday on Caulks, we're taking shape. Prospective future England keeper Simon Moore from Brentford has come on board as well and I don't think VT and MM have stopped yet. If we do manage to get defensive midfielder Capoue in from Toulouse for the £10M offered and accepted by the club, I reckon we'll be OK and in with a shout of staying up there. Personally, I think the signing of Caulks gives us a better chance of keeping us up than the acquisition of JET has of getting you up. Fair - or is that a little biased as well?
very biased you have a fantastic player in caulker spurs must have some outstanding center halves to let him go. Us with JET lets say 99% city fans are very very glad SOD has managed to get him on board. If you guys manage to stay up and we go back up everybody is a winner
Its not sour grapes OS, Its opinions... I just don't think you'll have enough. Its alright chucking money about at all these players doesn't mean it will keep you up, Ask QPR fans.. Caulker will be a great player but have a bad feeling about this move for him, As if you have a bad season it will do him no good being a defender. Signings like Brayford and Moore are ok but will they cut it in the Prem? Hmmm not sure. Granted I would rather be in your positions signing these players than league 1 signing the players we are but really wouldn't be surprised if we are playing each other again next season. As for the teams that come up with you, Again I think will come straight back down, No disrespect but the 3 teams that went up look poor in the premier league, With you being the best of the three I cant see you finishing bottom but cant see you surviving
Can't see what your beef was Sparky I said Caulker might keep you up but it was not good for Spurs or the player You are likely to struggle in the Premiership and that will not enhance Caulkers chances of International call ups.
No beef with you or anyone else Hawky - just up for a chat. Can't see the comparison with QPR there shiny - Fernandes and Redknapp recruited a set of mercenaries and paid through the nose for it. The paid the ultimate penalty and cocked it up big time. I've always liked 'arry, but he came out of that lot with no credit at all. It's not all about who you bring in. It's as much about who you can retain and we've kept our existing lads together for this upcoming season. We did without Maynard all last year and now he's back full throttle. The new guys will add some punch and the only ones who won't be there (up till now anyway) are the ones we send out on loan. Talking about that, the arrival of Caulks has enabled us to put our young centre back Ben Nugent out on loan to get some match time. You may remember him - he scored for you at our place last year when it looked like you had nobody who wanted to. He would have done you a great job in the middle at the back, but he's gone to Rosler at Brentford instead.
It's not sour grapes for me, although I can't say I'm happy to see Cardiff City succeed after the fans allowed Vincent Tan to rebrand the club. I used to quite like Cardiff City, but the overspending days and the Asia dilemma made me lose a lot of respect for the club and its fans. That being said, while Cardiff have made some decent acquisitions, I think that outside of Caulker and Bellamy, Cardiff lacks the Premier League experience and the fight necessary to survive in the league should things turn to ****. My biggest worry, though, is what the owner will do if things don't go smoothly. The opposition fans will have it in for Cardiff City especially, so I can see a hostile reception met by a hostile owner making hostile moves.
Before we get bogged down with this rebranding talk as though we had numerous options at the time, let's just have alook at it. Vince bought into the club when it was on it's arse after the Hamman/Ridsdale years. Debts that were basically unserviceable, and nowhere to go but administration and suffer the consequences. Many clubs have chosen that route but we were offered an alternative with the introduction of TG and ultimately his colleague VT who was the real money man. We've taken the money no question. Was it worth it? Should we have told Vince to stick it because we wanted to keep our blue kit? I'd rather have a thriving club to support and watch them play in the Preemier League in red kit, rather than in League 2 in blue waiting for the Revenue to wind us up. Back to the football then. This forum is about your club - this thread mentioned Caulker and Cardiff, and the comments brought me in. Unlike us, you have an owner who, whilst picking up annual club losses personally, appears to favour the passive approach rather than fund his club to success. Do you think you've got enough strength on the pitch for the upcoming season to get you back in the championship, or does it need Stevo to dig a bit deeper for some quality and go for it?
Said it before and say it again. As much as I don't like them I don't think they will get relegated. I will be over the moon to be proved wrong mind.
I hope we're not gonna get bogged down with this Cardiff stuff again it is such a bore, we are Bristol City, good luck to them, may they get all they deserve, now how about Pack and our new striker, how will we do against Bradford, how many points can we accrue in August..
