I just want to wait until we've actually got this deal over the line before putting him in my team.

It looks close now, but we've been here before and the player hasn't come, so I'll hold back for now. <ok>

I was about to say this - it appears we are very close and I am thrilled at the prospect of signing him.

But we still have time for this transfer to do a complete 180. Plus, Dortmund say they are not going to sanction the move until they have a replacement in place. I would like to think that they've already been looking and have found some potential replacements, and with question marks over Giroud wanting to go to Dortmund anyway, there really isn't a lot of time left.

All we can do is hope <ok>.

I'm with the rest here. Until this gets properly signed off, i won't imagine him in the team. Anything can happen!

What the hell, i would go with:

    --------------------------Cech--------------------------
    ------Mustafi---------Holding------------Kos-------
    Bellerin-------------------------------------Kolasinac
    ------------------Xhaka---------WIlshere-----------
    ------------------------Mkhitarian/Ozil---------------------
    ----Lacazette-------Aubameyang------Ozil/Mkhi-----

Sorry but i can't put our flagship signing Auba on the wings when he's proved to be a world class CF. We have a real problem with midfield, Xhaka or WIlshere aren't good enough holding midfielders or defensively for this system. Neither is our CB Holding good enough for this system, he's growing but not at the required level. I would kill for a Sol Campbell right now. But the front line should make up for our deficiencies in the middle and hopefully they will retain the ball better.

Maybe a system change to accommodate the three new signings?

I agree. Auba has 21 goasl already this Season - scored 40 last Season - he needs to be played down the middle. The main question here is how to accomodate both Laca and Aubameyang in our starting 11.

He is better than Laca at the moment and has advantages in pace, strength and finishing. But having both in the front line potentially interchanging will be exciting.

I can't see how you can play both Lacazette and Aboomerang without leaving yourselves short in the middle.

This is exactly why I started this thread. The ONLY formation I can see to make sure both are happy is the one already mentioned:

    --------------------------Cech--------------------------
    Bellerin------Ev/Must----Koscielny-----Monreal
    -----Wilshere-------Xhaka-------Mkhitarian------
    -------------------------Ozil-----------------------------
    ------------Lacazette-----Aubameyang-----------

Having said this, I can never recall Wenger playing like this in recent times AND he loves to play people out of position. Therefore, I think Lacazette on the wing wont be as effective as Auba (yes Auba is more effective than Laca on the wing). Having said this, I think Auba's ALL GOALS (but one) has been inside the box.

So my conclusion is that having both of them doesnt make sense (especially as we have a super sub in Giroud). I would not be surprised if Lacazette leaves this summer.

    I would go with a 4-1-3-2.

    ---------------------------Cech--------------------------
    -Bellerin----Koscielny------Mustafi------Monreal
    --------------------------Elneny-------------------------
    -------------Wilshere--------------Xhaka-------------
    -----------------------------Ozil--------------------------
    ---------------Lcazette-----------Aubameyang-----

I think you will see blukyt's guess with Wilshere on the left and Mkhi on the right and Xhaka instead of Elneny. But I also think you might see Wilshere, Mkhi, and Lacazette on the bench in rotation, if everyone stays fit (which is a big if).

I'd rather have Elneny at the base of our midfield now that we've lost our Coq. Xhaka better further up the field like we've seen in the last couple of games.

You guys and your DM obsessions... I think you are far too attached to that position. The way people are playing a back 8 zone in defence, there is no real man-to-man DM these days. Yes, we stuck Elneny on Hazard for the Chelsea games, but most games he is a waste of a position.

Totally disagree. I'm not one for man-to-man. The way arsenal play, I think it is ESSENTIAL that there is 1 holding midfielder that seats in front of the defence. Our full backs will bomb forward. Jack will make runs and dribbles. Koscielny comes out with the ball. We have been caught out of far too fun when there is a turn over. Even when we had a Coq he didn't play that position well enough. Elneny for me has done the best job of it. Keeping things as simple as possible. We have to learn our lessons. Getting caught too far up the pitch has been our downfall for years.

Yep I would go with this too. Lacazette and Aubameyang have to play together imo. I'd also switch it up with a front three with Mkhitaryan/Lacazette on the left, Ozil right and Aubameyang through the middle. I'd also play Xhaka further back and have Ramsey ahead of him.

Spot on. I've lost count how many times we've fallen over because our midfield forgets to protect the back four. Since we lost Flamini and then Diarra, it really pushed us backwards. But then again, is this something that Wenger really cares about?
