With Shola gone it's an absolute necessity.

Not that we'd ever get anybody to fill Shola's boots I suppose.

Bet you can still see each other on the pitch though. <whistle>cough cough man u cough cough<whistle>

I'm hoping we bring back our blue 2nd kit, same colour as the one Rowell wore. I've hated our last two away kits. Hate away kits me.

Aye, Man Utd got walloped 6-3 I think by Saints a week after we beat them 5-0. Fergie made them change at half time as the players were invisible. The **** he used to come out with. lolol.

What I find the most staggering of all about this marketing gaffe is that the messaging is missing the MOST iconic thing about the club - black and white fcking stripes. What kind of dumb-a$$ tw@t thinks this sh!t up???

Oh, and that first transfer coming within "the next few days" has mysteriously vanished. Don't forget folks - "most of our recruitment" will be done before the World Cup.

The message is part of the advert for the New Away Kit, so why would there be any B&W stripes in it.
I can't see any marketing gaffe to be fair, it's an advert first and foremost designed to SELL the kit.

On many levels this advert is beyond funny.

Starting of with:

One City - The management couldnt give a fook about the city.

One Club - Again the management couldnt give a fook about the club, just the money.

One Toon - Give me a break, first of all the reference refers to the football club and the city, already discussed above.

The nature of believing - Generally speaking refers to believing in the club. The management come out with lie after lie after lie......... So what are we meant to be believing in?

Start believing - Please give us something to believe in!

The strips - Well lets get out 1984 away kit out (google nufc away kit 1984) and not waste any money on this drab. Dull, boring, bland, a sly wink from Ashley as to the very nature of the quality of the football we dish up. I quite like the goalies strip mind.

The players advertising the strip - 2 frogs, an argentine and a orange. Krul might not be here next season, Colo up until recently wanted away. Le Gouf looks like he has tits and is wearing high heels. Nothing to say really on Sissi.

If it said "One Owner" or "One unsackable manager" at the very least it would have been factually correct.

Finally, in reference to the strip in 1984 that we used. We finished 14th and went out of both cups in round 3. Maybe thats why the strips have been designed this way.

That is a good read and quite abrupt and to the point.

Talking of points what is the point in football....... To win trophies.

The reason why Ashley does not want a cup run is it is not cost effective. Their is no winnings. If you had a pot of £20 million I bet the fat man would seriously consider taking it seriously then.

That brings me to my next point, why is it that the so called top teams do not prioritise the cups.... MONEY. Thus why have the fa not made it more lucrative to win it? The clubs would put out their best players, the teams outside the premier league would potentially make more money from cup runs. yadda yadda yadda bottom line is everyones a winner.

I think even then you're missing the wider picture. Sports Direct posts revenues in excess of £2 BILLION. Profitability is through the roof, that company alone could buy and sell Newcastle United 3 or 4 times a year. Newcastle United is self-sufficient, doesn't give him much, doesn't cost him much. But that's because all we are is an advertising vehicle. It currently costs Mike Ashley NOTHING to have his name and his company broadcast/published to BILLIONS of potential customers almost DAILY! The cost of such advertising, in press or TV, would be in itself 100's of millions of pounds a year. The shrewd bastad has basically bought the World's biggest billboard for £240m. It's still "worth" £240m, he'll get that back, more or less. In his time at the club, the revenues of his dodgy thrift shop have grown by around 500%.

I'm sorry to say, but there is no hope here anymore.

Indeed this is all correct. Its a horrible thought but as long as we are in the premiership he will be happy. He can effectively leave the club stagnant for years and years.

Have to admit thought, hes a clever bastard. I am surprised no other businesses have done the same.

Ah, they will now. Villa will be bought by someone looking for global branding, that's all it is anymore. Man City are no different - it just so happened that their sugar daddies were able to try and create a global brand before FFP stopped everyone. Now the only good thing about investing in a football club is the free advertising.

I expect Villa to be bought up by Red Bull.

Its interestingly counter productive stating in the media that we as a football club do not want to get in europe, win trophies etc because from an investment point of view it significantly restricts us to players who are only mercenaries.

The club has dropped a clanger here. The only players of any quality to keep us in the premier league are the ones lining their own pockets. Why come if you aint going to win. Well to make money is the answer.

I still think that a couple of years out of the premier league is the only way we will get rid of Ashley. THE ONLY WAY.

Just imagine us getting a #Start believing message following the Spurs kicking. Just looking at it from their point of view. Given their 2nd half of the season and how uninspiring they've been I just think it's a bit cheeky.

What makes you think he would sell if we were in the Championship?

I'm not saying he wouldn't sell, but its a massive assumption to make.
Many thought this last time, and he just cut his cloth accordingly.

He would probably still want to sell at a premium rate, and getting a buyer at his price proved elusive last time.

Speculation was rife earlier in the year with Villa and Red Bull.

"Gerard Houllier, who is now the global sports director for Red Bull, insisted there is no truth in the rumours about them wanting to buy out Villa’s American owner Randy Lerner".
“Red Bull does not have any intention of buying Aston Villa, not at all, so there is no truth in those rumours,” Houllier told the Birmingham Mail.

RB already have four clubs including Salsburg (Austrian Champions).
