Great start for Southamption this season with them sitting in 2nd place in the league with 25 points after 11 games. It's no fluke with the team playing well and the footbal easy on the eye Southampton have moved on from the Summers departures and bought well whilst also installing a good manager. So great start, the usual Premier League season would see any surprise teams hitting hights like this dropping off at some point during the season but with the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd and Arsenal all struggling at times do you think you can maintain this form and finish high in the table? If yes how high can you finish?
Unless we get a load of injuries, yes I think we can. I haven't seen anything from the likes of Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool to convince me we can't finish 3rd to be honest. We were never this far ahead of any of the usual "top 4" clubs last season so we have got a golden opportunity to achieve something pretty amazing.
I don't think Saints need to fear anyone...unlike last year I think we will get more points off the 'big' sides. We haven't enough depth to challenge for the title...although we have great medical facilities and an extremely low level of soft tissue injuries, we will suffer injuries/suspensions. Although other teams will step up, I don't think they all will. Finishing 3-4th is possible. Top 6 almost definite.
Ahem .... don't make me get my post from June 18th/19th when the fixtures came out..... I called it then
Thank you. Yes I think we can keep up a pace at least comparable to this providing we don't get crippled with injuries. I have no delusion about the fact that our position is partly due to woeful performances by Spurs, Liverpool and Man U so far and i think we'd struggle to maintain anything around the top 4 if they were in (or around) contention. Personally i'm thinking 4th for us...Chelsea are gonna piss the league this year, Man City are gonna throw money at any problem they have come January and i think the Gunners will improve gradually and fight with us for the 3rd place coming up trumps towards the end due to experience.
Alot of ITK pundits and twerps keep on about us no playing any of the BIG 4 and have lost to both Pool and Spurs, so we will find out in the next few weeks how we fare against the big boys. Even Chelsea have not been setting the league alight, and if we can continue winning games that last year we would have lost then we should be in with a shout. Our run in is pretty nice too. City always struggle when Toure is in Africa
Arsenal's fortunes are not likely to improve with Monreal playing centre back alongside Mertesacker. If their one man team gets injured then they will be in all sorts of trouble.
